Nenjil Thunivirunthal Review

Star Cast : Sundeep, Vikranth, Mehreen, Soori, Harish Uttaman
Director : Suseenthiran

Nenjil Thunivirunthal is a brand Suseenthiran film with some smart surprises and shrewd twists-it has a charming friendship angle, middle-class family issues, a social message and a deadly villain. Though the packaging reminds you of the director's earlier works like Naan Mahaan Alla and Pandiya Naadu, the film is fast-paced and entertaining till the end.

Kumar (Sundeep) and Mahesh (Vikranth) are close friends, the latter is an angry young man and he fights for the issues of others whereas the former wants to lead a peaceful life but if someone creates any problem for his friend, he would make them "immovable" with his ‘udumbu pudi’ ( his friends say that he can hold anyone tight like monitor lizard).

Mahesh is in love with Kumar’s sister who is a doctor, though her mother (Thulasi) does not like this relationship.Things go smoothly until a false police complaint is lodged against Mahesh for attacking a real estate office with his friends!  When Kumar comes to know about this he tries to help Mahesh through a police officer but little do they realize that all this is a part of a big crime done by a deadly quotation group ( Harish Utthaman)

The first half of Nenjil Thunivirunthal moves leisurely with romance, friendship and villain introduction. Suseenthiran takes his own time to establish the real conflict and raises the tempo after the interval block. The second half is where things actually start moving at rapid pace with solid twists and turns. Harish Uttaman’s characterization is brilliant and he is one of the major highlights in the film. His bearded look has given him a new makeover.

Sundeep’s energy level is a big plus and he is completely at ease in front of the camera. He rightly fits into the role of boy-next-door character while Vikranth though being typecast in such agry-young-man roles has done a neat job. Soori’s comedy works in parts. Among the downers is heroine Mehreen who irritates with her poor lip-sync and has limited screen space.

.

Though Imman’s songs are not up to his normal standards, his BGM for the villain stands out. Lakshman’s cinematography is top notch, particularly in the climax stunt sequence. Overall, Nenjil Thunivirunthal is a good watch for family audiences this weekend.
