Puriyatha Puthir Review

Star Cast : Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie
Director : Ranjit Jeyakodi

Vijay Sethupathi’s long delayed thriller Puriyatha Puthir, as the title suggests has an unsolved puzzle till interval. But towards the climax, the director reveals the twist and to be honest, nothing really works in this contrived film mainly due to the unconvincing writing and a heroine who is unimpressive.

Kathir (Vijay Sethupathi) is an aspiring music director, who falls in love with Meera (Gayathrie) at first sight as she plays a catchy tune in his music shop. Life goes well for Kathir and Meera until the former receives an obscene video of his lover from a stranger. Also, the lives of Kathir's friends are in danger.

Now Kathir has to solve the mystery behind the voyeurism to save the life of his dear one...

From the word go, the film fails to engage us and we are unable to relate with any of the characters. The twists and turns are also very predictable that anyone who regularly watch Malayalam films can guess the so called 'secret' flashback and it's after effects.

Gayathrie looks dull and Vijay Sethupathi who is currently on a roll cannot save the film with his presence. As the film was in cans for a long time, the production values look outdated.

Though the running time of the film is little above 120 minutes, the slow moving screenplay tests our patience and ends up as a boring ride.
