Neruppuda Review

Movie Title : Neruppuda
Director : Ashok Kumar
Star Cast : Vikram Prabhu, Niggi Galrani, Madhusudhan Rao, Varun

Vikram Prabhu’s Neruppuda  gets off to a flying start…literally.

It isn’t just an action movie set against the backdrop of fire fighters but is also about friendship between five young men who want to do something good to the society. What gets in the way of the film is the second half where debutant director Ashok Kumar didn't have much to say and opted to have a forced ending which looks contrived and forced.

From childhood, Guru (Vikram Prabhu) and his four friends aspire to join fire service and save lives. As they grow up, even before officially joining the service, they work together to rescue people from fire accidents. Things go as per plan until Guru's friend (Varun) accidently kills the right hand of a powerful gangster Puliyanthopu Ravi (Madhusudhan Rao).

Now all the five friends should save themselves from Puliyanthopu Ravi and cover up the murder to achieve their dream to join the fire service. The first half is quite entertaining as the twists and turns are interesting and keeps you glued. But in the second half, the film hits some clumsy roadblocks as the director struggles to end the film by bringing in a surprise character that does not work to the advantage of the script.

RD Rajasekar 's stunning visuals and Sean Roldan' s music especially the introductory song and the duet are hummable. Vikram Prabhu has given his 100% as Guru. He dances well, deliver the right expressions and stays energetic throughout. Nikki Galrani has nothing much to do, making her entry and exit at regular intervals. Rajendran is a scream in a well-written role and provides laughter in few places.

Ponvannan as Guru's dad is good. To conclude, Neruppuda has its highs and lows, but delivers what it promised.
