Eeswaran Review

Star Cast : Silambarasan TR, Bharathiraja, Niddhi Aggarwal, Balasaravanan, Munishkanth
Director : Suseenthiran

Suseenthiran's Eeswaran is a formulaic rural action entertainer.

The film is all about Periyasamy (Bharathiraja) who leads a satisfactory life with his wife Pappathi (Vinothini) and their kids. An astrologer predicts that his wife's life is in danger and unfortunately it turns out to be true.

Now, the kids are grown up and settled in Chennai. Due to the ego tussle, they are not keen to visit their dad but the COVID 19 pandemic brings them to their native place. Meanwhile, Eeswaran (Silambarasan TR) takes care of Periyasamy in his hometown and he is the go-to man for the old man and the entire family.

There is another backstory that Periyasamy and his family earn the wrath of a local thug as they put him behind the bars. Now, the goon is waiting for the right time to take revenge against Periyasamy and his entire family. Can Eeswaran save them?

Director Suseenthiran seems to have tried to follow director Pandiraj's successful formula by setting an action entertainer in the large size family backdrop. But unlike Pandiraj's film, Suseenthiran's one is neither exciting nor moves the audience. Eeswaran also has shades of  Arjun's Ezhumalai.

Silambarasan TR is back with his energetic screen presence. The actor looks fresh and handsome with his recent weight loss that he scores well in action and dance sequences. But there is no scope to exhibit his acting prowess.

Bala Saravanan and Munishkanth provide comic relief while Bharathiraja helps in enhancing the emotional scenes. Please note that Niddhi Aggarwal and Nandita Swetha are there in the film for songs and a few scenes.

Tirru's camera work is strictly functional and there is nothing much to race about Thaman's music. Despite the 125 mins runtime, the film fails to engage us throughout.

Overall, Eeswaran is an average formulaic rural family entertainer.
