Do You Find Yourself Struggling With Dry, Cracked Heels?
« on: August 17, 2017, 07:05:17 AM »
Having cracked heels can be as a result of a number of reasons but what we can all agree on is that it does not look or feel good. The consequence can range from mildly uncomfortable to painful depending on the severity. But fret no more, this particular problem has a solution and a natural one at that for those of you who are not too thrilled about using artificial creams for your legs.

To get rid of cracked skin, you have to, first of all, understand its causes. Experts agree that the health of the outside of your body (skin) is almost often determined by the situation of things inside your body.

So, it is possible that while cracked heels could be caused by skin conditions like fungal infections and eczema, it can also be as a result of not meeting necessary dietary needs. A deficiency of zinc, magnesium and omega-3 in your diet can lead to cracked heels.

So, our first remedy is all about the things you eat.

First Remedy

Eat food that are great sources of zinc, magnesium and omega-3. Also, gelatin and vitamin C are a great idea as they help with skin elasticity. Then finally, drink more water for a healthier skin.

Try this minor dietary changes for a couple of weeks and see if it helps. If not, then you might want to try this special salve.

Remedy 2 (DIY Salve)

What you’ll need:

>> Shea butter (¼ cup)
>> Coconut oil (¼ cup)
>> Beeswax (3 tablespoons)
>> Magnesium flakes ( ¼ cup) plus some boiling water.
>> Oregano essential oil (10 drops)
>> Peppermint essential oil (10 drops).

What to do:

First, pour the magnesium flakes in a small container and add boiling water. Stir until the flakes are dissolved. You should get a thick liquid. Leave to cool.

Add coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter into a mason jar then place the jar in a pot and set on the stove over medium heat. Stir gently and occasionally. When the content of the jar has melted, remove from the heat and let it cool down. Afterwards, transfer the mix into a blender.

Begin blending this oil mixture at medium speed. As you blend, slowly add your dissolved magnesium. Try not to add too much at a time. Continue blending until the magnesium has been added to the oil mixture and completely mixed.

Add your oregano and peppermint essential oils and make sure it is well combined.

Afterwards, pour your mixture into a container and set in the fridge for 15 minutes. Take it out and re-blend again to get that soft, buttery consistency.

Again, store in the fridge for a little while before use.

You can apply this mix at night before bed. Massage your feet gently with the cream and put on a pair of socks before going to sleep for best results.
