What is the dirtiest area of the house, home to the most bacteria? The bathroom. No matter how much we clean it, the bathroom contains bacteria which come directly from the toilet. If we want to maintain good hygiene we have to change certain habits, especially men.

According to a survey, more than 68% of men flush the toilet with the toilet seat up.

It’s good to flush, this is the only way we have of getting rid of the salmonella and shigella which live inside. However, the toilet seat isn’t there simply to look nice. We must lower it to avoid water splashing out while flushing. If water from the toilet does splash outside, bacteria may remain on the edges and outside of the toilet.

The other big problem is that brush. Most of us use a brush to clean the toilet. However, this brush is a major source of infection and dirt, since it contains fecal matter from the sides of the toilet. Plus, it stays moist, which helps the bacteria and parasites reproduce.

To avoid this, wash the brush when you’re finished using it and sprinkle with a few drops of bleach to disinfect it.

Finally, don’t forget to use gloves to clean your bathroom.
