Lady Superstar Nayanthara's Netrikann is a faithful remake of the Korean crime thriller Blind with a few changes including the flashback of the antagonist (Ajmal).

Durga (Nayanthara) is a CBI officer who loses her eyesight and her brother in a horrific road accident. Post-accident, Durga adapts herself to the lifestyle of a visually challenged by learning Braille and self-developed survival skills. When a serial killer (Ajmal) mistook the intelligent lioness Durga as yet another innocent prey, he lands in trouble. The rest of the film is all about how Durga nabs the serial killer with the help of a rookie cop Manikandan (Manikandan) and Gautham (Saran) who resembles her brother.

The film is largely engaging mainly due to the superb characterization of Nayanthara and her powerful performance. Be it subtle humor, emotionally demanding scenes, action, and mass sequences, Nayanthara hits everything out of the park with her elegant and arresting screen presence.

After Nayanthara, the rookie cop Manikandan scores with his humor sense and earnest performance, he has a unique screen presence and shines once again after Sillu Karupatti and Aelay, he is here to stay and do more quality films. After Vada Chennai, Saran gets good scope here in Netrikann and the young actor has pulled it off well.

The only weak link in the entire film is Ajmal and his cringing flashback. He comes out of death several times in the last thirty to forty minutes, where logic has gone for a toss. The long-drawn-out climax is only because of Ajmal's character and the needless action scenes.

Otherwise, Netrikann is an engaging crime thriller with several mass moments for Nayanthara including the face-off scene where she challenges Ajmal and asks Manikandan to take off his hand when he tries to help her as she walks out of the interrogation room (reminds us of Ajith's famous mass scene in Arrambam).

Technically, RD Rajasekar's cinematography rightly suits the crime thriller genre, especially during the night shots and rainy scenes. Editor Lawrence Kishore has tried his best to package the film within an engaging format. Music composer Girrishh Gopalakrishnan shines both in background score and songs.

Overall, Netrikann is a fairly engaging thriller with minimal flaws. The film belongs to Nayanthara and her majestic screen presence.
