Suttu Pidikka Utharavu Review

Star Cast : Vikranth, Suseenthiran, Mysskin, Athukya
Director : Ramprakash Rayappa

Director Ramprakash Rayappa has tried to narrate an edge of the seat thriller that happens in one day and achieves his goal to an extent.

The film begins with a bunch of criminals (Vikranth, Suseenthiran, and team) looting money from a private bank to save a child's life and they are on the run. A special team supervised by senior police officer Ibrahim (Mysskin) chases the criminals who are hiding in a crowded colony.

Game Over review: Engaging watch l A novel concept in Bollywood derailed by writing and direction Meanwhile, we are shown that a group of terrorists are also hiding inside the house located in the same colony as they are planning a bomb blast in Coimbatore city. Then there is a brave adventure loving local resident (Athulya) who helps the media to cover what exactly happens in the colony!

From the word go, Ramprakash Rayappa has tried to make it racy and the initial set of scenes are really impressive. However, needless comedy scenes featuring the cop inside the terrorist camp and Athulya's scenes with the two media guys test our patience.

Suttu Pidikka Utharavu's biggest strength is Mysskin who owns the screen as the audacious cop and the way he operates inside the hospital is quite intriguing and powerful. Vikranth is adequate for the film whereas the rest of the actors including Suseenthiran and Athulya are not impressive.

Though there is no needless songs and commercial compromises, the writing could've been better in certain scenes, especially the episode featuring terrorists are neither impressive nor convincing. The end twist is sure to surprise the audiences and that's the best part of the whole film.

Technically, the film scores well in all the departments -Jakes Bejoy's music, Sujeeth Sarang's cinematography and the racy cuts by Ramarao (115 minutes runtime) are added strength to the film.

Overall, Suttu Pidikka Utharavu is a functional thriller but had the director concentrated more on the logical loopholes, worked more on the screenplay, the film would have ended up as a taut thriller. Nevertheless, the attempt of the director on making a film without usual commercial stereotypes is laudable!
