Peechankai  Review

Director : Ashok
Star Cast : Karthik, MS Baskar, Anjali Rao

Newcomer Ashok has chosen 'Alien Hand Syndrome' to narrate a crime comedy and he has succeeded in it to an extent.

Smoothu (Karthik) is a pickpocket, who is known for smartly snatching purse with his left hand. But while escaping from cops, Smoothu meets with an accident and then, his left hand stops listening to his brain. Doctors calls Smoothu's condition as Alien Hand Syndrome, which means there is a miscommunication between his right and left brain. To cure our protagonist's condition, doctors suggest an operation which would cost RS 3 lakhs.

Meanwhile, Smoothu gets a big deal, he should snatch a powerful MLA' s cell phone, which has a lot of private videos . Will he be able to finish the job and cure his rare medical condition?

Within the limited budget, director Ashok has tried to tell an interesting crime story with comedy as the film's predominant factor. The major strength of Peechankai  is Ashok's comic writing and characters along with the unique alien hand syndrome concept, which helped the director to explore new path to narrate an usual crime comedy.

Newcomer Karthik's body language is a big plus but the actor has to work on his dialogue delivery and expressions. The supporting cast has also done a good job in the film, especially the criminal and political gangs.

DOP Gautham Rajendran and music composer Balamurali Balu have given their best within the limited resources. Though the film entertains us, the slow paced screenplay in the second half tests our patience but considering the young team, we can overlook such minor flaws.

The bottom line is Peechankai is a watchable crime comedy and it's a decent attempt by the young team.
