The Numbers Are Unfathomable

If you’re a mom who also works, that means you have two jobs. On the one hand, you’re in charge of taking care of your kids and also putting in time at the office. It’s natural for you to feel exhausted. And nobody considers those hours you spend at home with your children as work. But the truth is that you practically have no time for yourself.

A new study shows exactly why that’s the case for moms who work. The research project involving 2,000 working mothers with children between the ages of 5 and 12 showed that, between their current job and their domestic chores, they worked an average of 100 hours full time per week.

Amazing, right? According to the site “Working Mom”, mothers begin their “work day” at 6 in the morning and don’t finish until after 8 pm, when the kids go to bed. This means they work 14 hours per day.

With such a difficult job, the amount of free time to focus on yourself is ridiculous. The researchers found that working moms have, at most, seven full minutes to themselves each day. Being a working mother means having two jobs and very, very little time for yourself. Had you thought about it this way before? These mothers deserve our admiration.
