Ippadai Vellum Review

Star Cast : Udhay, Manjima, Daniel Balaji, RK Suresh, Soori
Director : Gaurav Narayanan

Director Gaurav Narayanan's Ippadai Vellum is an action packed thriller that fails to deliver a coherent, riveting experience.

The film opens in an Uttar Pradesh jail where Chotta (Daniel Balaji), the most wanted terrorist escapes from the prison to execute a serial bomb blast in Chennai city. Coincidentally on his way to Chennai, Chotta meet two strangers Madhu (Udhayanidhi Stalin) and Kulandhai (Soori), for whom life turns upside down, after that.

Madhu is all set to marry his longtime girlfriend Bhargavi (Manjima Mohan) and Kulandhai is planning to be with his pregnant wife but both are being chased by cops as they suspect them as Chotta's guys. What happens next?

The first half moves smoothly but post interval the film offers little by way of freshness or originality, instead piling up the clichés and reinforcing lazy stereotypes. Udhay in the lead role is subtle and convincing. For a change, Soori' s comedy is placed withing the narration and doesn't look forced (But the pissing and farting scenes were disgusting).

.

Manjima looks cute and has a good role as a smart girlfriend who helps the hero. Daniel Balaji as villian and RK Suresh as a police officer is ok. Richard M Nathan not only provides colorful visuals, his multiple angles and camera movements play a vital role. Imman 's background score and songs rightly support the film’s theme.

Overall, Ippadai Vellum, in many ways feels half-baked and wanting.
