Balloon  Review

Star Cast : Jai, Anjali, Janani
Director : Sinish

Debutant director Sinish's Balloon follows the tried and tested commercial formula for a hit horror thriller and what works big time here is the comedy and Yogi Babu's one liners which brings the roof down. The film borrows its inspiration from popular Hollywood flicks and the director has given credit to them.

Jeevanandham (Jai) is a struggling assistant director who wants to make his debut with a native subject but the producer suggests him to do a horror film which has good hit rate and advises to make his dream script as the second film.

Initially, Jeevanandham feels hesitant but the need of settling down in life changes his mind. Jeevanandham, his wife Jacqueline (Anjali), a little brat Pappu (his nephew) and two assistant directors Arockiyam (Karthik Yogi) and Panda (Yogi Babu) decides to go on a road trip to Ooty to research about a haunted house. During their stay at a resort, all five of them experiences paranormal activities. The little boy stumbles upon a doll and the rest of the film is filled with a flashback, a revenge tale and how everything is sorted out!

Balloon's biggest strength is the humour and the racy presentation. Sinish has fully utilized the potential of Yogi Babu who is in top form. The small kid who plays Pappu is also very good. The other actors including Jai, Anjali and Janani are just adequate. The first half of Balloon moves at a rapid pace but the second half lacks the tempo due to the routine flashback and revenge angle.

Yuvan's songs are not that impressive but he elevates the film with his background score. R Saravanan's camera rightly capture the present and 80's portions with unique color tones.

On the whole, Balloon is sure to satisfy everyone.
