Kamali From Nadukkaveri Review

Star Cast : Anandhi, Azhagam Perumal, Imman Annachi, Prathap Pothen
Director : Rajasekhar Duraisam

Kamali From Nadukkaveri is not a perfect film but it has the heart at the right place. Kamali (Anandhi) is a happy-go-lucky girl in the small village Nadukkaveri. She studies in a Tamil medium state board school and doesn't have a big dream until she sees the interview of a CBSE topper (Rohit) who joins IIT Madras later. Now, Kamali is in love with the boy whom she has never seen before and wants to join IIT only for him.

Though the journey of Kamali begins like a fantasy love story, slowly, she learns the importance of education and ends up as a big inspiration to the young students in her village. The one-liner of the film sounds like a decade-old Tamil melodrama but director Rajasekhar Duraisamy has given a contemporary touch to the film. He has authentically captured the IIT college procedurals and also subtly conveyed how education can give confidence to a naïve girl.

For Anandhi, Kamali from Nadukkaveri is a career-defining film. Her character comes across as the typical Tamil heroine in the beginning, slowly, she transforms into a confident woman who stands tall with her self-confidence. Talking about the transformation, Anandhi's ability to quickly change her expressions from an innocent to an intrepid girl deserves applause.

The rest of the actors like Azhagam Perumal, Prathap Pothen, and Imman Annachi have also done their parts well. Cinematography by Jegadeesan Logayan and music by Dheenadhayalan enhanced the quality of the film. Scenes in the IIT campus look super authentic and the background score sounds inspirational in most of the places in the second half.

On the downside, the village portions are a turn-off and we wish the director could've tightened the script a bit in the first half.

Overall, Kamali From Nadukkaveri is an inspirational story of a young girl who dreams and achieves big in the end.
