Sema Review

Star Cast :GV Prakash Kumar, Arthana, Sujatha, Yogi Babu, Mansoor Ali Khan, Kovai Sarala
Director : Vallikanth

GV Prakash Kumar's Sema is a watchable rural family entertainer with all commercial elements mixed in the right dose. The first half works mainly because of Yogi Babu's clever one-liners thrown in at lightning speed and pleasant music. Director Vallikanth assembles a bunch of gifted actors to infuse credibility into the storytelling.

Kuzhandhai (GV Prakash Kumar) is a vegetable seller who is vibrant, optimistic and lovable. His mom 's (Sujatha) biggest dream is to get her son married, as most of her matchmaking tactics ends in a mess. After a long struggle, Kuzhandhai gets the green signal from the pretty Maghizhini (Arthana Binu) and her parents (Mansoor Ali Khan and Kovai Sarala). But before the engagement ceremony, Maghizhini 's dad changes his mind after he gets to know that the rich local MLA' s son wants to marry his daughter.

But Kuzhandhai and Maghizhini develop a liking for each other, they elope to Chennai with the blessing of the girl's mom. What happens next?

GV Prakash Kumar gives a cool and effortless performance. He is improving with each film and knows where his strength lies. Arthana looks cute as a homely village girl with her cute and bubbly expressions. But the biggest highlight is Yogi Babu, as he brings the roof down with his body language and he is in terrific form. The film also gets the help of Mansoor Ali Khan and Kovai Sarala to continue to the comedy and sentiment flavors in the second half.

Sema is a fun filled movie that keeps us entertained throughout mainly because of the familiar actors and the light hearted treatment. Technically GV Prakash Kumar's songs are big hits, especially the Saandali and Urutu Kannala tracks. Cinematographer Vivekanandan has perfectly captured the rural beauty in the film with breezy visuals. The crisp run time is another positive for the film.

To conclude, Sema is a family entertainer for this holiday season. You will love the film for its silly, relentless humor.
