Aan Devathai Review

Star Cast : Samuthirakani, Ramya Pandian, Aranthangi Nisha, Kavin, Monica, Radha        Ravi, Ilavarasu, Suja Varunee,                    Abishek, Hareesh Peradi, Kaali Venkat
Director : Thamira

Director Thamira’s Aan Devathai is a loud preachy film conveying a relevant message - That modern day parents should not run behind money and start spending time with their kids for a better future.

Elango (Samuthirakani) is a medical representative and Jessie (Ramya Pandian) is a corporate employee. As soon the couple becomes parents to twin kids, Elango gives up his job to look after his children whereas Jessie continues with her corporate job. Though everything goes well with the tiny family, the corporate culture makes Jessie more ambitious. In a scene Jessie slaps her husband when he walloped a predator who abused their daughter. Elango moves out of the house with his daughter to prove a point that life is not all about money whereas the son is with Jessie who faces the heat from loan sharks after she loses her job…

Aan Devathai is yet another preachy film starring Samuthirakani, the actor speaks lengthy dialogues throughout the film. Though he shines in a few scenes with the child actor Monica, he sounds more like a preacher than an actor. Ramya Pandian as Jessie is adequate and actors like Radha Ravi and Hareesh Peradi have also done their parts well.

Filmmaker Thamira has mentioned The Pursuit of Happiness as an inspiration for the film but Aan Devathai is nowhere near the classic. The film also portrayed that corporate people who earn 70 k per month own swanky Audi and BMW which is unrealistic in real life and it shows the understanding of the director.

Music composer Ghibran’s work is a relief in this loud film which is filled characters without any layers. The little girl Monica is impressive and Vijay Milton has also done a commendable job in the cinematography department.

Overall, Aan Devathai is a brand Samuthirakani film filled with an array of messages to society and family. If you are a fan of films like Appa and Saatai, give it a try!
