Thimiru Pudichavan Review

Star Cast : Vijay Antony, Nivetha Pethuraj, Dheena
Director : Ganeshaa

Generally cop films act as the catalyst in the career of any actor who aspires to become a star. For the first time in his career, music composer turned actor Vijay Antony plays a cop in Thimiru Pudichavan.

Constable Murugavel (Vijay Antony) wants to change his brother who prefers to be a juvenile criminal rather than a cop. Murugavel studies hard to transform his brother but all his efforts go in vain. Two years later, Murugavel's brother works under Meesai Padma (Dheena), an underworld gangster who uses adolescent kids for his crimes. Meanwhile, department promotes Murugavel as a sub inspector and transfers him to Chennai.

On knowing his brother is a henchman, Murugavel kills him in front of the public and gets promoted as inspector of police. The rest of the film is all about how Murugavel changes the mindset of adolescent kids who works under Padma, he also transforms the corrupted police officers by teaching them the importance of being honest.

Director Ganeshaa has opted for the mass route to attract the 'B' and 'C' center audiences. Besides the gallery pleasing angle, the film also conveys an important message on how youngsters under eighteen are not punished which in turn pushes them into the underworld. The film also deals with life of people in lower economic backdrop and Ganeshaa has portrayed it without any compromise. However, the treatment is over the top and filled with mass masala ingredients so it might not appeal all section of audiences. While the first half is quite engaging, the second flows in various directions and ends with a loud fight.

Vijay Antony is quite impressive as the upright cop and his earnest performance is evident throughout the film. Nivetha Pethuraj plays the role of an audacious local cop with Chennai slang, the actress actually provides the much needed comic relief whereas the four youngsters who acted as juvenile criminals are brilliant. After Vada Chennai, Dheena got an interesting role in Thimiru Pudichavan and he has done a neat job.

As said earlier, the theme and message of the film are definitely laudable but the treatment is loud, it will be appreciated by the audiences who love formulaic mass entertainers.
