We all heard that high cholesterol can be dangerous for our health, especially if we are talking about low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Researchers believe that high cholesterol is a major risk factor for many diseases including very serious.

High cholesterol levels can results in atherosclerosis, heart attack and stroke. Yes, it is not very good, but the most important thing is that we can control this risk factor, reducing cholesterol. Some very simple rules can help you to maintain your heart health. Doctors say that a special diet can lower cholesterol levels by as much as 10 to 15 percent.

How can you identify that your cholesterol is high? The common symptoms are:

>> fatigue;

>> frequent headaches;

>> you always want to sleep;

>> you have high blood pressure;

>> you suffer from liver pains;

>> constipation or diarrhea;

>> appetite problems;

>> you always feel nervous.

The main step in your tactic is to find out where it comes from. The main source of cholesterol is animal products and baked food, so just try to limit them. It means that you need to avoid red meat and fat-containing products.

The next step is to understand what fats are good and what fats are bad.

The common recommendation is to limit the fats in your diet to 25–35 percents of daily calories. But you need to know that there are different types of fats and each of them has different effects on your health. For example, saturated fats from red meat, cheese, butter or coconut oil can harden in blood vessels.

Trans fat (they are unsaturated fats that have been transformed chemically to be solid at room temperatures) are even more harmful because they decrease good cholesterol in our blood and raise the bad one.

Pay attention to unsaturated fats, known as good fats. You can find them in olive oil and different nut oils.

Omega-3 is the most useful type of unsaturated oils that is helpful when we are talking about heart health. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty fish, walnuts and flax seeds can prevent atherosclerosis.
