Sakka Podu Podu Raja  Review

Star Cast : Santhanam, Vaibhavi Shandliya, Sampath, Vivek, VTV Ganesh, Powerstar Srinivasan
Director : GL Sethuraman

Santhanam’s initial set of heroic films had decent scripts and there were no scenes to highlight his heroism. But in Sakka Podu Podu Raja, things are over-the-top and it’s very difficult to sit through this misadventure. Any hero would love to act in mass action films but times are changing and audiences are no longer interested in watching such mindless commercial movies.

Santa (Santhanam) kidnaps the sister of a powerful gangster (Sampath) and thus, she escapes from a forced marriage and unites with her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Santa meets Yazhini (Vaibhavi Shandliya) and falls head over heels for her. Though Yazhini refuses at first, she slowly falls for him. When Sampath searches for Santa, the news on him loving Yazhini(youngster sister of Sampath) comes as a shocker. The rest of the film is how Santa convinces the gangster and marry Yazhini in a screenplay which is mixed with gravity-defying stunts and bland comedy…

If only Santhanam had taken interest in choosing a good script than focusing on his costumes, fancy beard and hairstyle!! Despite his good looks, Santhanam lacks the confidence to perform as a solo hero, he looks odd in action and romantic sequences. Since comedy has been sidelined to project heroism, the USP of Santhanam itself is missing in Sakka Podu Podu Raja.

Vivek as call tax driver Delhi is adequate and the heroine has been only used as a glam doll. Scenes featuring VTV Ganesh and Vivek evoke some laughter otherwise Sakka Podu Podu Raja is not a hilarious film either.

STR’s songs are the film’s biggest strength, he has also done a good job in the re-recording but as the content is weak, his work goes in vain. Abinandhan’s crystal clear visuals is another positive aspect of the film.

From stereotypes to sad attempt of jokes, this one is a tedious watch.
