Semma Botha Aagathey  Review

Star Cast : Mishti, Anaika, Karunakaran, Yuvan Shankar Rajaz , Atharvaa
Director : Badri Venkatesh

Actor Atharvaa's Semma Botha Aagathey is an average mindless popcorn entertainer catered to the young audiences.

Ramesh (Atharvaa) is terribly worried after he broke up with his ladylove (Mishti). Ramesh's friend Nandu (Karunakaran) suggest that a call girl is the best remedy to get over this sad phase. As per Nandu's plan, Neena (Anaika) goes to Ramesh's house and things go well until his neighbor , an old man, falls ill. Ramesh heads out to admit the old man in the hospital but when he gets back to his house, Neena is found dead. A petrified Ramesh comes to know that Neena is from Palakad and to find who murdered her, he goes to Kerala. What happens next?

The first half of the film moves leisurely until the main conflict pops up and to be honest, the pre-interval comedy portion featuring Karunakaran and Manobala offers us some good entertainment. Yuvan Shankar Raja is another hidden hero of the film while we expect the second half to be filled with twists and turns, nothing excites us much.

The biggest drawback of Atharvaa is that he lacks the energy to carry the film on his shoulders. Though the actor dances well, fights with a great ease and looks extremely fit, the energy level is missing. Among the other actors, Karunakaran shines with his one liners and his sequences worked out well in the film. As the storyline is simple, Semma Botha Aagathey completely depends on the magic in screenplay but apart from a few genuine fun moments, the film hardly entertains us.

Gopi Amarnath's camera work is a big plus for the film, his shot divisions in the chase sequences and angles in Atharvaa's apartment shows his expertise. As pointed out earlier, Yuvan Shankar Raja is the hidden hero of the film, his background score and songs perfectly in sync with the mood of the film and enhances the overall output. The runtime is around 133 minutes (good move by Praveen KL) and it certainly works in favor of the film.

To conclude, Semma Botha Aagathey is an average entertainer which is watchable for the comedy sequences and impressive work of Yuvan Shankar Raja.
