Inayathalam Review

Ganesh Venkatraman’s Inayathalam is an amateurish attempt, and it takes superhuman strength to stop yourself from nodding off to sleep. This film gets tiring very quickly.
The film is all about series of mysterious murders and the culprits are active on social networking sites. How a set of bumbling cyber crime officials (Swetha Menon and Erode Mahesh) along with an upright cop (Ganesh Venkatram) narrows down the criminal mastermind forms the plot.
Directors Shankar and Suresh seems to have made Inayathalam right after their first college drama that the quality is sub-standard for a feature film. Even some of the badly made TV serials are way better than this at least in terms of production value and performances.
It’s sad to see Ganesh Venkatraman, who is known for his good performance in content-driven films like Abhiyum Naanum, Unnai Pol Oruvan and Thani Oruvan struggle in a clumsy film like this. He may have flexed his muscles like few can, but his acting chops need work. Shwetha Menon looks too mature for the role and Erode Mahesh is a pain. The director duo Shankar & Suresh has taken the audience for granted.
Sukanya as the mysterious villain is the biggest joke and the climax comedy only brings unintentional laughter. Arrol Corelli, who composed music for the poignant Pisaasu had worked in Inayathalam, and the composer has tried to save the film with his background score.
In the film, Sukanya sets a countdown to kill the kidnapped victims and when we come out of the movie, we feel lucky to be alive even after 123 minutes of unbearable torture.
