Your Heart Rate Can Vary Based On These 7 Primary Factors
« on: July 25, 2017, 08:14:26 AM »
A human heart beats approximately 45 million times per year, but this can vary based on factors such as age, gender, and physical activity level. Here are seven primary factors that influence heart rate.

Age

Two-month-old baby’s heart beats twice as fast as his parents’ hearts.

A person is born with a high heart rate: the resting heart rate can reach 150 beats per minute. However, with age, the pulse rate decreases and becomes about 80 beats per minute.

Gender

Women have higher heart rates (approximately 5–10 beats more per minute) than men.

Body temperature

As the body temperature rises, the heart rate increases about 10 beats plus per one temperature degree above the norm.

Physical shape

Trained athletes have a resting heart rate of 40–60 beats per minute, which is half that of the adults who are not engaged in sports.

Diseases

If the heart beats more rapidly than normal, it can be a symptom of some diseases. First of all, it can be a sign of the cardiovascular system disorders, as well as problems related to the respiratory and nervous system.

Physical and emotional stress

Stress also raises your heart rate.

Heart rate indicators when exercising

The maximum pulse rate decreases with age and it can be 200 beats per minute in 20 years and 150 at the age of 70.

While working out your heart rate should be not more than 50–85% of your maximum level. For example, if you are 20 with a maximum pulse rate of 200, the optimal for training will be from 100 to 170 beats per minute.
