Market Raja MBBS Review

Star Cast : Arav, Kavya Thappar, Rohini, Radhika
Director : Saran

Director Saran's Market Raja MBBS is a rehash of his old films like Vasool Raja MBBS and Attagasam with a ghost angle.

Market Raja (Arav) is a ferocious gangster in North Chennai who doesn't even respect his own mom (Radhika) and often kicks her down. Vanisri (Kavya Thappar), a medical college student falls in love with Raja who turns her proposal down saying that he cannot be in a relationship, as he is a gangster. On the other hand, we have an innocent medical student who sees Vanisri. In an unexpected event, the innocent guy dies in an attack aimed at Market Raja. The soul of the innocent guy enters into the body of Market Raja. Now, the don becomes innocent, is scared of everything and everyone, and he also goes to medical college....

The first half of Market Raja is passable with a few high moments and funny comic portions featuring Radhika and others. The second half is a letdown as the ghost angle waters down the whole serious tone of the film. Though there are many comedy scenes, the second half is completely different from the first half.

Arav looks okay as the tough gangster but he cannot carry the comedy portions. Kavya Thappar is okay while both Radhika and Rohini have done a commendable job.

KV Guhan has authentically captured the North Chennai locales and Simon King's score is a big highlight that he shines both in songs and rerecording. The film is tad too long that the makers should trim it by twenty minutes.

Overall, Market Raja MBBS is an average action comedy entertainer with a ghost angle.
