Ghajinikanth Review

Star Cast : Arya, Sayyeshaa, Sampath,Sathish
Director : Santhosh P Jayakumar

The good news is that Ghajinikanth is not a sex comedy or a horror comedy and is packaged as a clean slapstick family entertainer. There is no logic and most of the time the situations and plot is silly and predictable. But there is something charming and genuinely funny about this film especially the hilarious second half.

Director Santhosh P Jayakumar who made two adult comedy films Hara Hara Mahadevaki and Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu is back this time with a faithful remake of the 2015 blockbuster Telugu film Bhale Bhale Magadivoy.

Rajinikanth (Arya) is an absent minded man who forgets things and easily gets diverted by simple distractions in life. Rajini's dad (Aadukalam Naren) named his son after his matinee-idol thinking that he would become a mass hero in real life but the poor guy often becomes a laughing stock for his absent minded condition.

While girls runaway from Rajini for his forgetful nature, he falls hook-line-sinker for Vandhana (Sayyeshaa). But this time, Rajinikanth hides his problem to impress her and the twist in the tale is that her dad who had rejected our hero knowing his absent minded condition plays cupid.

Arya shines in the comedy and romantic sequences with Sayyeshaa and Sathish. Sayyeshaa looks super gorgeous and her dancing skills are exploited by the director, as she plays the role of a Kuchupudi dancer. The actress also scores with her cute expressions and energetic moves and is slowly turning out to be the dream girl of Kollywood. Sathish is in super form and his one liners bring the roof down in the second half. Aadukalam Naren, Uma, Sampath, Rajendran and Karunakaran have also done a good job.

Though Ghajinikanth is a faithful remake of a hit film, the first half moves slowly and the climax fight turns out to be unintentionally funny and silly. Technically, Balamurali Balu's songs are hits and his background score is adequate. Ballu's colorful cinematography and GK Prasanna’s cuts are the other positive aspects of the film.

Overall, Ghajinikanth is a time pass entertainer and you will enjoy watching it with family and friends!
