Anba Azhaga Movie Review

Director: S Sivaraman
Cast: Akash, Sada, Arya, Preethi, Lavanya
Music: Arul Murugan

Directed by debutant S Sivaraman Anba Azhaga follows the age old story of a Hindu girl who falls for the charms of a Muslim boy and finally the film ends with a message.

Sheik Babu (Akash) is a Mr Nice guy who comes o the city to pursue his studies and takes up a part-time job in the petrol bunk of his friend Ganesh(Sada). He becomes close to Ganesh’s family especially his grandfather (Arya) who thinks Babu is a Hindu.

Ganesh’s sister Preethi falls in love with Babu though he turns her down. But the girl follows him constantly and finally gets his attention. How the lovers face opposition when grandfather comes to know that Babu is a Muslim and will the lovers unite forms the rest of this predictable story.

Though director Sivaraman’s intentions are noble, the film ends up as an amateurish attempt. Songs by Arul Murugan are ok with Silambarasan singing a song. On the whole, Anba Azhaga is old wine in old bottle.
