Veteran lyricist Vaali passes away in Chennai 

The veteran lyricist Vaali (81), who was in a critical condition in a Chennai hospital, passed away by around 5 p.m. yesterday. He was fighting respiratory illness for the last few months.

Vaali has written about 10,000 songs in Tamil in last 50 years. TS Rangarajan better known as Kavingar Vaali is one of the most respected lyricists in the industry. His contribution towards Tamil cinema spans five decades and he has penned lyrics for some of the most famous music directors in the industry.


Pay tribute

Vaali has worked with three generation of music directors. At the moment his Sonapareeya ...song for AR Rahman composed Maryan and sung by Haricharan, Javed Ali, Nakash Aziz is scorching the charts.

Vaali`s other recent works include the Ethir Neechal title track, Netru Aval Irundhal .. from Mariyan and has also written a song for Vasanthabalan’s forthcoming Kaaviya Thalaivan.
