Anandham Vilayadum Veedu Review

Star Cast : Gautham Karthik, Saravanan, Cheran, Soundararaja, Daniel Balaji, Sivaathmika.
Director : Nandha Periyasamy

Director Nandha Periyasamy's Anandham Vilayadum Veedu is your typical family action drama that talks about the indifferences in a large family and the one enemy who often tries to divide them and rule!

Periya Aambalai (Joe Mallori) married two wives and together, they have multiple sons and daughters including Kasi(Saravanan), Muthupandi (Cheran), Palani (Vignesh), Selvam (Soundararajan), Dharman (Snegan), and others. Muthupandi's business enemy Karuppan (Cheran) often troubles their family by causing indifferences among the brothers.

While Muthupandi and Kasi, the two elder brothers of Periya Aambalai's two wives come together to build a big house for their 'mega' family, Karuppan creates a cunning plan so that Muthupandi's two younger brothers and their wives revolt to stop the construction! Meanwhile, Kasi's son Sakthivel (Gautham Karthik) is an intelligent youngster who helps his family against the cruel plans of Karuppan!

From the first scene to the climax, you will be able to guess all the scenes in Anandham Vilayadum Veedu. Some of the scenes in the film are emotionally moving thanks to the performances of Cheran and Saravanan but most parts are predictable, loud, and over the top. The writing is typical and there is no fresh air in the whole script. Gautham Karthik looks handsome but he is a misfit for a rural entertainer. He is not expressive and looks out of place among other family members. Newcomer Sivaathmika is also not that impressive!

Sidhu Kumar's songs are pleasant and instantly likable but his background score is jarring. Borra Balabharani's cinematography is functional and the editing by NB Srikanth is also okay. Anandham Vilayadum Veedu follows the template of films like Anandham, Pandavar Bhoomi, Vananthai Pola but unlike these classics, we are unable to emotionally invest much with this film mainly due to the poor screenplay and surface-level writing.

To conclude, Anandham Vilayadum Veedu is for audiences who love TV serials and family dramas from the 80s.
