'Kaaval' audio review

Cast: Vimal,Geetha,Samuthirakani
Music: GV Prakash Kumar
Direction: Nagendran

Album Analysis:
Nattu Nadu Iravula
Singers: Sanjana Diwakar Kalmanje, Dharan Kumar
A very pleasant track to listen to with no lyric jarring instruments. The tune is accompanied with piano chords and the arrangements don’t go overboard keeping the song neat and simple. The best track of the album!

Sakka Podu
Singers: Tippu, Santhosh Hariharan
The most disappointing track of the album! ‘Sakka Podu’ has a worn out tune that doesn’t live up for most part of the song. Tippu’s voice sounds jaded and the cheesy lyrics don’t help either.

Aavaaram Poovukkum
Singers: Megha
‘Aavaram Poovukkum’ works immediately owing to the catchy female humming portions. The instrumentation and arrangements look like they were made out of Aayirathil Oruvan bgms. Megha does a terrific job with her rendition & the chord shifts deserve a mention.

Aadu Annatha
Singers: Velmurugan,Maalvika Sundar,Santhosh Hariharan
‘Aadu Annatha’ gives a strong sense of ‘regular & usual’. The tune offers nothing refreshing out of the ordinary and the usage of singers who have sung similar tracks in the past doesn’t help things either.

Un Kannukullaara
Singers: GV Prakash,Priya Hemesh
‘Un Kannukullara’ follows the template of ‘Otha Sollala’ & ‘ Karuppu Nerathazhagi’ where GV Prakash delivers something instantly peppy. Even the arrangements resemble those two tracks. The veena based second interlude is a nice addition to this folk tune.

Instrumental,Chorus
A very short and uninspiring theme that is completely a trailer material propelled by the chorus chants.

On the whole, GV Prakash delivers yet another album where he shines through the melodies while the golden touch evades him in the remaining genres.

Picks from the album: Nattu Nadu Iravula, Aavaaram Poovukkum
Album Verdict: Listen to the melodies & skip the rest!
