Idhu Enna Mayam Review

Director: AL Vijay
Cast: Vikram Prabhu, Keerthi Suresh, Nassar

AL Vijay is always known for making soft, feel good movies with colorful frames and heart touching music. The director's latest movie Idhu Enna Mayam is no exception but here the plot is very familiar and hence it ends up as another candy floss romantic drama.

Arun (Vikram Prabhu) runs a drama troupe with like-minded friends but sadly there is no big reception. In order to make some money, they start a firm called Unnal Mudiyum Thambi (UMT) through with they literally write script and execute it to help the romantically challenged youngsters. Everything goes well until a businessman called Santhosh (Navdeep) approaches UMT as he badly wants to marry Maya (Keerthi Suresh).

Cut to the flashback, we are shown that Arun and Maya were apparently lovers during their college days but the former bids good bye due to ego. Nevertheless, Arun agrees to help Santhosh, he sketches a plan to make sure that Maya falls for the latter but at one point of time he understands that he still loves her. So what happens next?

Vijay's intention to make a clean entertainer with classy framing must be lauded but the snail paced screenplay and familiar story line spoils the show. The screenplay doesn't have any big twists and turns except for the climax which is again not a big surprise!

Vikram Prabhu is highly energetic in the film and with Nirav Shah's frames, he looks super smart. Keerthi Suresh has given a commendable performance in her debut Tamil film, the actress has dubbed her own lines and one must appreciate the extra effort. While the other actors including Nassar, RJ Balaji and Ambika are just adequate.

Idhu Enna Mayam's biggest strength is Nirav Shah's cinematography that each and every frame looks like a painting. GV Prakash's songs are decent while he has scored well with the BGM which is essential for a romantic drama.

Overall, Idhu Enna Mayam is a template romantic drama with slow paced screenplay garnished with beautiful cinematography.
