Achamindri Review

Star Cast : Vijay Vasanth, Samuthirakani, Saranya
Director : Rajapandi

Following his debut film Ennamo Nadakkuthu, director Rajapandi has once again opted for multiple characters and incorporated plenty of twists and turns including a very strong message in his latest film Achamindri based on education racket.

Small time pickpocket Shakti (Vijay Vasanth) and an upright cop (Samuthirakani) fearlessly fight against powerful politicians and henchmen to unmask a greedy educational head Rajalakshmi (Saranya Ponvannan) and her group of institutions, as they continue to kill several innocent lives.

Rajapandi’s intention to convey a very important and much needed message to the society with commercial aspects is laudable. Samuthirakani, who won National Award for his subtle performance as a cop in Visaaranai has played a similar role with ease. Vijay Vasanth gives a fine performance as a jolly young guy with heart of gold, who takes everything light heartedly. Saranya Ponvannan is the surprise packet as she plays a negative role.

Srushti Dange with her cute face impresses while Vidya Pradeep as the mute girl is okay in a small role. Radha Ravi steals the show with his trademark punch lines but the rest of the actors including Karunas and Devadharshini are just adequate.

Among the spoilers, too many songs at regular intervals slows the pace. The climax courtroom scenes feel a bit too exaggerated and preachy. Cinematographer A Venkatesh has done a good job and Praveen KL’s sharp cuts make the film as a watchable one. Premgi’s songs are pretty decent but placements could have been better.

Overall, Achamindri is an above average commercial entertainer highlighting the irregularities in our educational system.
