4. St. Nikolai Church

The St. Nikolai Church is another fabulous church to visit in Downtown Hamburg. Indeed, only the ruins of this Gothic Revival church are left, except for its huge spire, which still stands majestically at nearly 150 meters above ground. Built in the end of 19th century, the St. Nikolai Church was one of the main churches in Hamburg, but after a massive bombardment in the World War II, the church was almost completely demolished. However, the impressive spire survived and its black nuances can be seen from far away, because it is the second-tallest building in the city.
