Audio Review- Bangalore Naatkal

Cast: Arya, Parvathi, Sri Divya, Bobby Simha, Samantha, Rana Daggubaati
Music: Gopi Sunder
Lyrics: Viveka, Madhan Karky, Pazhani Bharathi, Anna Katharina Valayil Chandy
Direction: Bhaskar

Album Analysis:

I Want To Fly
Singers: Anna Katharina Valayil Chandy
Cometh one of the surprises from the album! ‘I Want To Fly’ is a nice latino track rendered effectively by Anna Katharina. The tune doesn’t miss the flavour and the arrangements add to the enjoyment. Interesting to see how this would get picturized in the movie!

En Vizhiyin Kanavu
Singers: Gopi Sundar, Anna Katharina Valayil Chandy
‘En Vizhiyin Kanavu’ is pretty much from the same page as ‘Ente Kannil Ninakkai’ and has ample scope for acoustic improvisations. There is just a guitar strumming accompanying the rendition. Less on instruments and more of a sing along!

Aaga Motham Ennai
Singers: Gopi Sundar
‘Aaga Motham Ennai’ is in the Bob Marley zone with reggae type arrangements layered by a soothing tune. Gopi Sundar takes care of the microphone and does well despite a not-so-clear Tamil diction. The interludes are pleasant and adds more to the warmth of the song.

Naan Maati Konden
Singers: Karthik
‘Naan Maati Konden’ has the trademark Gopi Sundar arrangements which are less jarry and more rhythm based. Karthik adds an extra edge to the tune through his vocals. Although pleasant, one wonders if the song is too simple to stay contemporary.

Paraparapa Oru Ooru
Singers: Ranjith
Clearly, a montage track to introduce the city, the characters & their traits. The arrangements are very one dimensional and apart from aiding the visuals, wonder this will be a track that listeners would be humming their way to the theatres.

Thodakkam Mangalyam
Singers: Vijay Yesudas, Divya S Menon, Sachin Warrier
The album’s winner! ‘Thodakkam Mangalyam’ finds a place of its own in the Tamil version as well. The peppy tune, catchy hook line & energetic rendition tick their boxes and ends up as one of the album’s better tracks.

Although it is unfair to compare the music of ‘Bangalore Days’ to its Tamil remake, it is very difficult to shed off the impressions made by the original. ‘Bangalore Naatkal’, which concentrates to be a soft, acoustic, movie aiding album has its own moments in tracks like ‘Thodakkam Mangalyam’, ‘I Want To Fly’ & ‘En Vizhiyin Kanavu’.

Five reasons why you should watch 'Bangalore Naatkal'

PVP Cinemas’ Bangalore Naatkal is all set to release on February 5 in more than 250 screens across Tamil Nadu. Here are the five reasons we list on why one should watch the film

Cousins bonding: Bonding among cousins is an untouched milieu in Kollywood. The film will be a great watch for the young generation audiences along with their family members—in short, a perfect family outing guaranteed.

Multi-starrer feel-good film: Rajiv Menon’s Minsara Kanavu and Kandukondein Kandukondein are the two superbly made feel good multi-starrers in Tamil cinema. Now, after a long time Bangalore Naatkal has an ensemble of stars including Arya, Sri Divya, Bobby Simha, Samantha, Parvathy, Rana Daggubatti, Prakash Raj, Raai Laxmi and Saranya Povannan.

Faithful remake: In recent times, Bangalore Days is one of the biggest hits in Malayalam . Reports in the trade say that Bangalore Naatkal is a faithful remake of Bangalore Days and the team is said to have successfully replicated the emotions from the original. For Tamil audiences, who haven’t seen the original (nearly 90%), Bangalore Naatkal will be a refreshing film!

Grand visuals: At the recent two media meets of Bangalore Naatkal, Arya was in full praise for the cinematography of KV Guhan. The actor has raved that the visuals will be better than the original and the recent trailer and video songs have proven it.

Bommarillu Baskar’s trademark: We all would have enjoyed watching Santosh Subramaniam, which was originally directed by Baskar in Telugu.

Baskar has a knack of making feel good films with great humor sense and being a Tamilian, he would have definitely added the necessary nativity elements to suit the taste of Kollywood audiences.

Bangalore Naatkal Review: Go for it with your family

Director: 'Bommarillu' Baskar
Cast: Arya, Rana, Sri Divya, Bobby Simha

Remaking a hit movie from another language is definitely not an easy job especially when the original is a cult classic. Thankfully, 'Bommarillu' Baskar seem to have taken the cut-copy-paste method with all those magical moments of Bangalore Days intact along with ample support from his cast who have done full justice to their respective roles.

The film is about the believable vibe and electrifying chemistry between three cousins played brilliantly by Bobby Simha, Sri Divya and Arya. You can expect the moon from Bangalore Naatkal as far as entertainment goes and all the characters you see in the film are cool, light and easy. The film battles between cutesy and clever. And cutesy wins over clever.

Arjun (Arya) is an aspiring bike racer, a rebel from a broken family with a not-so-good childhood. He is a school dropout and is not treated with respect by other family members except his two cousins - Divya (Sri Divya) and Kutty (Bobby Simha) with whom he is very close.

Kannan aka Kutty(Bobby Simha) is a software engineer, who is bored of his techie life and is yearning to go back to his native to enjoy the pure air and home food. When Arjun and Kutty's cousin-sister Divya (Sri Divya) gets married to a Bangalore based corporate guy Prasad (Rana Dagubbati), all the three decide to relish their childhood dream in the Garden City.

Arjun falls in love with the charming RJ Sarah (Parvathy) and Kutty meets his dream girl Lakshmi (Raai Laxmi). The rest of the film is all about the endearing bonding among the cousins and the novelty lies in their relationship.

After a long time, Arya looks sparkling and he essays the complex character of Arjun with consummate ease. Rana has a solid role and the actor has worked hard to get into the skin of Prasad aka Shiva. Sri Divya looks super cute, is spontaneous and sparkling while Parvathy once again has given life to the poignant Sarah.

Bobby Simha is a revelation as Kutty and Saranya as his mom is a scream. Samantha, Raai Lakshmi, Prakash Raaj among others in brief cameo impresses. For those who have seen the original, it might take some time to accept the new cast but the subtle comedy, the emotional roller coaster ride and a well-shot climax puts a big smile on your face. For people who haven't seen the original, the film is sure to give a refreshing feel.

Technically KV Guhan's cinematography deserves the highest marks and is the biggest strength of the movie. Gopi Sundar's score elevates the ride to a different level.

On the whole, Bangalore Naatkal is refreshing because the actors look like they actually enjoyed making this film. And refreshing because sitting there watching the film, you can’t help feeling very old. Overall, this faithful remake, respects that a cinema audience can be both intelligent and mature.

Go for it with your family, You will not regret!
