Enakkul Oruvan Movie Review
Siddharth's Enakkul Oruvan is a bold and unique attempt with sharp performances and a tight script, it is 136 mints well spent. It is sans the normal commercial aspects for a Tamil movie and the icing on the cake is the intelligent screenplay by Pawan Kumar (director of the original Kannada version, Lucia) which is well supported by top notch cinematography and music.
The film opens with Vikky (Siddharth) in coma and we are shown him as an insomniac torch boy in a local theatre. One day Vicky meets a stranger who introduces him to a special tablet Lucia which gives him the much needed sleep and also an invincible dream where he plays a reigning star. In both dream and reality, Vicky meets a girl Divya (Deepa Sannidhi) who changes his life and she is the reason for his present coma condition. Cut to the 'real' reality, the director has a surprising twist in the climax and it would be unfair to reveal the suspense here.
Performance wise, Siddharth does an extraordinary job of sinking his teeth into the two characters with consummate ease. Among the two, he shines as the innocent a, naive and kindhearted theatre boy and it is but natural for anyone to fall in love with him. New girl Deepa Sannidhi has a very good role and she is promising. After Siddharth, it is 'Aadukalam' Naren who steals the show and he has once again proved his versatility.
Compared to the original version, Enakkul Oruvan is definitely one step higher in the technical department. And it is Santhosh Narayan's music that plays almost another character in the movie. The 'Endi Ippadi..' and 'Prabalamagavey..' with amazing beats is outstanding with brilliant choreography. Gopi Amarnath's cinematography is sparkling and editor Leo John Paul's cuts are perfect.
Overall, Enakkul Oruvan is refreshingly fresh and for those with an appetite for a change from normal formula films, we recommend this one. A good time guaranteed
