Enakul Oruvan Movie Review

Director: Prasad Ramar
Cast: Siddharth, Deepa Sannidhi, Ajay Rathnam, Narain
Cinematographer: Gopi Amaranath
Music: Santhosh Narayanan

Editing: Leo John Paul

Cinematography: Gopi Amaranath

Enakul Oruvan is the official remake of the Kannada sleeper hit ‘Lucia’ and stars Siddharth, Deepa Sannidhi, Ajay Rathnam and many others. Siddharth whose movies are known to have good songs joins hands with Santhosh Narayanan. Let us see how that combination has come out:

Endi Ippadi

Singers: Santhosh Narayanan

Lyrics: Ganesh Kumar Krish

The album’s best song! Santhosh Narayanan wields the microphone and does the rendition for ‘Endi Ippadi’ himself. The lyrics are ample fun and Santhosh’s vocals give them a new flavor. There is an accompanying bass line throughout the song and the tune itself is mighty catchy and highly likeable. Kutti Poochi Singers: Manicka Vinayagam Lyrics: Muthamil

Manicka Vinayagam for a Santhosh Narayanan composition sounds odd at the first instance but the composer has tricked us all and has come out with an instantly likeable tune. Manicka Vinayagam’s rendition suits the tune perfectly. The song is a part folk, part progressive rock number with interludes having heavy fusion of nadaswarams. Prabalamagavey Singers: Siddharth Lyrics: Muthamil

It has been a while since Tamil cinema delivered a complete psychedelic rock number and Santhosh breaks that barrier with ‘Prabalamagavey’. The vocals of this song has been handled by Siddharth himself who has sung songs in Telugu in the past and has proved his mettle. The lyrics of the song hint us that this song would feature in the movie star’s segment of the film. A typical rock number! Poo Avizhum Pozhudhil Singers: Pradeep Kumar Lyrics: Vivek ‘Poo Avizhum Pozhudhil’ starts off with slow guitar strumming and the song tends to slowly grows on the listeners. Pradeep Kumar reunites with Santhosh Narayanan after ‘Aagayam Theepudicha’ from Madras and does a commendable job. Another highly pleasing number to the ears!

Yaar

Singers: Dhibu Niman Thomas

Lyrics: Vivek

‘Yaar’ is a song that is heavily lyric driven and is accompanied by mild instruments (mostly by the piano chords). In all probabilities, this song is likely to be a montague in the movie.

On the whole, it is safer to say that Santhosh Narayanan is on the peak of his prowess in ‘Enakul Oruvan’. With a slew of hits like ‘Jigarthanda’, ’Madras’ & ‘Cuckoo’, ‘Enakul Oruvan’ is a worthy addition to his repertoire.

Picks from the album: Prabalamagavey, Endi Ippadi, Kutti Poochi

Verdict: Santhosh Narayanan raises the bar one more time!

Siddharth's 'Enakkul Oruvan' comes out clean!

Siddharth's Enakkul Oruvan which is a remake of Kannada cult classic Lucia has been censored with a clean U certificate, which means the film is eligible for the tax exemption in Tamil Nadu.

Produced by CV Kumar, Enakkul Oruvan is being directed by debutant Pawan Kumar and the film will be released by Dream Factory.

Sources say that the makers of Enakkul Oruvan are planning to release the film by the end of December or January first week. Mean while, Siddharth’s another film Kaaviya Thalaivan is all set to be released on November 28.

'Enakkul Oruvan' is a love story with a fantasy angle : Prasad Ramar

We had a chance to interact with Prasad Ramar who is awaiting the release of his debut vehicle ‘Enakkul Oruvan’ starring Siddharth which is the official remake of the Kannada sleeper hit ‘Lucia’. Here are the excerpts from the interview:

How did CV Kumar offer you to direct ‘Enakkul Oruvan’?
I was the co-director in ‘Pizza’ where I worked with Karthik Subbaraj and the team. CV Kumar knew me from those days and offered me ‘Enakkul Oruvan’ when he decided to make it in Tamil.

What do you think is the USP of ‘Lucia’ that prompted you to remake it?
The romantic track should be highlight of the movie. There is a fantasy angle to the screenplay as well but ‘Lucia’ was basically a romantic movie set in an interesting screenplay.

Remakes tend to get compared to the originals. Have you made a conscious effort to modify the Tamil version?
Yes. We knew there would be comparisons to the original ‘Lucia’. We have not made ‘Enakkul Oruvan’ exactly like ‘Lucia’ we have made necessary changes to suit the Tamil audience.

How did Siddharth get roped in for the lead role?
Siddharth had seen ‘Lucia’ and he himself wanted to play the lead role and he fits the part perfectly. He doesn’t show any starry tantrums and is very convenient to work with. He makes sure that the working relationship is comfortable and I had a great time directing him.

Santhosh Narayanan’s music for ‘Enakkul Oruvan’ is a rage among the youngsters already. Tell us about your working relationship with him:
Santhosh is more like a family to me and I knew him back from the ‘Pizza’ days itself. He was very impressed by the original script of ‘Lucia’ as he had done the background score for it. It was Santhosh who put together the entire team. When he gets impressed by the script,  he delivers fantastic tunes.

When is the movie planning to come out?
The date has not been fixed yet. But, it will be a December release.
