'Trisha Illana Nayanthara'-Audio review

Cast: GV Prakash,Anandhi,VTV Ganesh,Manisha
Music: GV Prakash
Direction: Adhik Ravichandran

Album Analysis:

Bittu Padam Di
Singers: GV Prakash, Adhik Ravichandran
‘Bittu Padam Di’ is loud & crass right from the beginning. With lyrics crossing the decency mark, the song does not have much to take home musically either. Give it a miss!

Mutham Kodutha
Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja
The much expected GV-YSR number! With a peppy tune & foot-tapping arrangements, ‘Mutham Kodutha’ easily becomes the best song of the album. The prelude is taken straight out of Ilayaraja’s Sigappu Rojakkal title music. The synthesizer ridden interludes gel well with the mood of the track. Album’s best!

Rain Dance Theme
‘Rain Dance Theme’ has typical GV elements where he uses bagpipe much like the way he used it in ‘Thalaivaa’. The tune repeats itself for the second time as the track proceeds but still makes up for an endearing listen.

Yennachu Yedhachu
Singers: GV Prakash, Saindhavi,Kalyani Pradeep
Yennachu Yedhachu marks GV Prakash going to his stronger suit – melodies. The GV Prakash- Saindhavi combination has always delivered in the past & doesn’t fail here too. Although the track and arrangements has an endearing attribute to it, the song does try to ape ‘Vennilave Vennilave’ in some places. A good listen though!

Dakalti
Singers: Andrea,Gaana Bala,Anthony Dasan
‘Dakalti’ is a jugalbandhi with part English- part local lyrics. But somewhere, the two segments don’t gel well to make the track memorable. Andrea does a great job behind the microphones as usual and saves a jaded tune.

Trisha Illana Nayanthara
Singers: Pushpavanam Kuppusamy, Arunraja Kamaraj
The title track is modeled akin to the Bhajan songs that we hear in temples. The idea behind such a song supported by quirky lyrics is appreciable. But, the execution falls short of what might have been an enjoyable listen.

On the whole, ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’ marks a change in style for GV Prakash who has gone experimental. With tracks like ‘Mutham Kodutha’ & ‘Rain Dance’, GV does well but invariably falls short in the remaining tracks.
Picks from the album: Mutham Kodutha, Yennachu Yedhachu, Rain Dance Theme
Album Verdict: A change in style is evident from GV but is only half fruitful!

Trisha Illana Nayanthara Review

Director: Adhik Ravichandran
Cast: GV Prakash Kumar, Anandhi, Manisha, VTV Ganesh

First things first! GV Prakash’s Trisha Illana Nayanthara is packed with crude humor and made with the intention to shock you.

It is bold from the word go and falls into adult comedy genre, something rare in Tamil cinema. Definitely not for the audience who prefer template movies with textbook screenplay and characters. But if you are the one who loves a wide ride with ‘A’ jokes, double meaning dialogues and misogynistic theme, debutant director Aadhik Ravichandran is bang on!

Jeeva’s (GV Prakash Kumar) life all about two things- booze and women. Apparently our protagonist grows up along with two girls, Ramya (Anandhi) and Aditi (Manisha Yadav). Interestingly, all the three were born on the same day in the same hospital, same time.

As Jeeva reaches adolescent age, he falls in love with Ramya at school and she too has a soft corner (or lust?) for him. But unfortunately, they separate as Jeeva opens up to his friend about his sexual escapades to his close friend which eventually spreads like a wildfire in the school campus.

Soon after Ramya ditches him, Jeeva and Aditi come close but being a male chauvinistic at heart, the former can’t accept his girlfriend boozing regularly and once again our "virgin" hero gets dumped. Jeeva heads to Kumbakonam to stay with his uncle (VTV Ganesh) who runs a bar. The rest of the film tells us whether Ramya who is in Kumbakonam and Jeeva get reunited or not!

The film is filled with anti-women dialogues and so it’s quite obvious that guys would have good fun but it would have been really great, if the director had an inventive story. The second half rather moves at a snail pace with nothing much happening. Wonder why an actress of Simran's calibre agreed to do the role of an aunty? Arya and Priya Anand's cameo in the climax falls flat.

GV Prakash Kumar fits perfectly into the role of Jeeva but has to improve in dance and dialogue delivery!  Anandhi looks cute and might go places if she picks the right scripts. Manisha Yadav has been used for oomph factor and she has exactly done what her character demands. VTV Ganesh, who comes as GV Prakash’s uncle provides occasional laughter.

Cinematography by Richard M Nathan is quite good for the rom-com while GV Prakash’s songs are peppy- Mutham Kodutha Maayakari and Bittu Padam Di has the theatre dancing. To conclude, Trisha Illana Nayanthara is Uninhibited and naughty which has enough frenzied moments to keep the youth audiences in splits but families keep away!

Industry bigwigs heap praise on 'Trisha Illana Nayanthara'!

At the audio launch of Atharvaa’s Eeti today,  industry bigwigs have heaped praise on GV Prakash’s later hit, Trisha Illana Nayanthara.

Amma Creations Siva, secretary of Tamil Films Producers Council said “GV Prakash Kumar’s Trisha Illana Nayanthara has followed the council’s new promotional strategy and now, it has turned out to be a huge hit. Made at a budget  of 2.5 crs, the film has collected more than 12 crs”.

“Film industries in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh can promote their big budget films at 75 lakhs but here things are different. As satellite and FMS rights have dropped, we have no other option but to cut the expenditure of promotions”, said Siva.

Veteran producer Keyar had commented that Trisha Illana Nayanthara had double meaning dialogues but then the film has become a super hit which matters a lot.

Replying to Keyar’s remark, director Vetrimaran, who was present at the function said “I’m seeing Trisha Illana Nayanthara as a coming off age film. It reflects the taste of the current generation”.

“Not all films need to be serious so let’s not generalize Trisha Illana Nayanthara as a film filled with double meaning dialogues”, added Vetrimaran.
