Two heroines, more glamour?

The recent trend in Kollywood is to have two heroines in a big star film. Though this is not a new phenomenon in Tollywood, where almost all top heroes' fascination for romancing two heroines is well-known, this trend was very rare in Tamil films and now this formula is slowly but surely gaining momentum.

Earlier our directors found it extremely difficult to cast two leading ladies together as starry tantrums and ego clashes were common. But somehow, young filmmakers are pulling off the most arduous task with great ease.

We lists out few films ready for release and in the pipeline which has two heroines…

Ithu Namma Aalu



In Ithu Namma Aalu, Silambarasan has Nayanthara and Andrea in lead roles. The buzz is that both the actors have two songs each.

Suriya's ambitious sci-fi action thriller '24' has two star heroines as well. In the flashback portions, Nithya Menon will be seen as the pair for dad Suriya while Samantha has been paired opposite son Suriya in the film.

Suriya’s previous film Masss also had two heroines, Nayanthara and Pranitha.

Kabali




Superstar Rajinikanth’s soon to be released gangster flick, Kabali has two heroines - Radhika Apte and Dhanshikaa.

But only Radhika Apte plays the romantic interest of Rajini and Dhanshikaa will be seen as their daughter. As far as market value is concerned, both the heroines belong to the same tier.

Iru Mugan



Vikram’s new action adventure film Iru Mugan with director Anand Shankar has Nayanthara and Nithya Menon in pivotal roles. Sources say that Nayanthara plays a secret agent in the film while Nithya Menon will be seen as a high ranking investigative officer.

Thala 57



There is a buzz doing the rounds that Thala 57 will have two heroines but as of now, there is no concrete confirmation from the team. However, Ajith’s Yennai Arindhaal and Vedhalam had two heroines, the former had Trisha and Anushka while the latter had Lakshmi Menon and Shruti.

Nenjam Marapathillai



In Selvaraghavan’s Nenjam Marapathillai there are two heroines - Nanditha and Regina Cassandra. A source close to the unit says that both the heroines have equal importance in this horror thriller.

Suriya’s Hari directed Singam franchisee S3 has Anushka and Shruthi Haasan as heroines. In Singam-2 Anushka and Hansika played the romantic interest of the hero.

Kodi



Dhanush’s Kodi has Trisha and Anupama Parameswaran as leading ladies. Earlier Shamilee was signed up as the second heroine role but in the last minute Anupama replaced her.

Dharmadurai



In Seenu Ramasamy’s Dharmadurai, Vijay Sethupathi has two heroines - Tamannaah and Aishwarya Suresh. It is not yet confirmed if they play the hero’s love interest but the buzz is that both have very good screen space.

Theri



In Ilayathalapathy’s upcoming action entertainer Theri, he will be seen romancing Samantha and Amy Jackson.

Interestingly both Samantha and Amy Jackson have earlier shared screen space in Dhanush’s Thanga Magan. In fact Vijay’s previous film Puli too had two heroines, Shruti and Hansika.
