Gethu-Audio Review
Cast: Udayanidhi Stalin,Amy Jackson,Vikranth,Sathyaraj
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Direction: Thirukumaran
Album Analysis:
Adiye Adiye
Singers: Karthik, Shalini
Typical Harris song! “Adiye Adiye” is a very contemporary number with familiar backgrounds. Karthik leads the song from the front with his vocals easily hitting high notes. The song is racy & has signature Harris Jayaraj written all over it. One could notice that the background groove is almost continuous & the composer scores off in the second interlude where there is one superb piece of extended usage of whistle. Gives you a ‘heard before’ feel but still, catchy!
Thillu Mullu
Singers: Naresh Iyer, Ranina Reddy
Although ‘Thillu Mullu’ is eerily similar to some of the yesteryear tracks from Harris Jayaraj, it has a catchy loop and the chorus portions add a fresh sense of curiosity for the listeners. The first interlude is ‘Nee Sunno’-ish! Naresh dominates the vocals department with able support from Ranina. Trademark Harris Jayaraj!
Yevanda Ivan
Singers: MC Vickey, Sharmila
‘Yevanda Ivan’ is like the hybrid of the rap portions from ‘Aga Naga’ fused with the arrangements of Thuppaki’s rerecording. MC Vickey who has been in good form of late delivers a neat rap but the tune is visual adhering. Would work if used along with proper visuals!
Thaen Kaatru
Singers: Haricharan, Shashaa Tirupathi
Harris clones ‘Pookale Satru Oivedungal’ in every sense! The similarities in the tunes, arrangements are shocking to the say the least. However, much as the case was with the former, ‘Thaen Kaatru’ is pleasant to listen to with soft instruments and good lyrical content.
Mutta Bajji
Singers: Gana Vinoth, Anthony Dasan, Marana Gana Viji, Ebisa
The tune is constructed in a sensibility that would appeal to the masses. Unlike ‘Danga Maari’ or ‘Anjala’, there is no standout factor to help the rendition lift the spirits. The arrangements are almost Anjala-ish. The accompanying percussions somehow keep the interest rate among the listeners.
On the whole, Harris Jayaraj doesn’t seem to come out of his stock tunes zone. The songs that sound catchy are highly nostalgic where as the songs that sound different aren’t that impressive. The Udhay-Harris combo has delivered better album in the past.
