Album Analysis:
I Want To Fly
Singers: Anna Katharina Valayil Chandy
Cometh one of the surprises from the album! ‘I Want To Fly’ is a nice latino track rendered effectively by Anna Katharina. The tune doesn’t miss the flavour and the arrangements add to the enjoyment. Interesting to see how this would get picturized in the movie!
En Vizhiyin Kanavu
Singers: Gopi Sundar, Anna Katharina Valayil Chandy
‘En Vizhiyin Kanavu’ is pretty much from the same page as ‘Ente Kannil Ninakkai’ and has ample scope for acoustic improvisations. There is just a guitar strumming accompanying the rendition. Less on instruments and more of a sing along!
Aaga Motham Ennai
Singers: Gopi Sundar
‘Aaga Motham Ennai’ is in the Bob Marley zone with reggae type arrangements layered by a soothing tune. Gopi Sundar takes care of the microphone and does well despite a not-so-clear Tamil diction. The interludes are pleasant and adds more to the warmth of the song.
Naan Maati Konden
Singers: Karthik
‘Naan Maati Konden’ has the trademark Gopi Sundar arrangements which are less jarry and more rhythm based. Karthik adds an extra edge to the tune through his vocals. Although pleasant, one wonders if the song is too simple to stay contemporary.
Paraparapa Oru Ooru
Singers: Ranjith
Clearly, a montage track to introduce the city, the characters & their traits. The arrangements are very one dimensional and apart from aiding the visuals, wonder this will be a track that listeners would be humming their way to the theatres.
Thodakkam Mangalyam
Singers: Vijay Yesudas, Divya S Menon, Sachin Warrier
The album’s winner! ‘Thodakkam Mangalyam’ finds a place of its own in the Tamil version as well. The peppy tune, catchy hook line & energetic rendition tick their boxes and ends up as one of the album’s better tracks.
Although it is unfair to compare the music of ‘Bangalore Days’ to its Tamil remake, it is very difficult to shed off the impressions made by the original. ‘Bangalore Naatkal’, which concentrates to be a soft, acoustic, movie aiding album has its own moments in tracks like ‘Thodakkam Mangalyam’, ‘I Want To Fly’ & ‘En Vizhiyin Kanavu’.
