American Watercolor painter-"Steve Hanks" 1949

Steve Hanks was born in San Diego in 1949. He grew up surfing the beaches of Southern California and playing tennis. He says that it’s good for the soul to be out in the water surfing, swimming and playing. He adds-“The Ocean made a strong and lasting impression on me.”

He uses watercolors as a painting technique and often hides faces for the viewer to guess and imagine the face behind the figure and sometimes to let the entire figure do the expression of emotions.

He loves to paint sunlight and according to him sometimes his work is more about sunlight than anything else.
