Popular actor commits suicide
Popular Television and film actor A.C.Murali Mohan has committed suicide in his home at Purasawalkam this morning. Murali has started his acting career in Telugu film as early as 1975. He has acted with yesteryear heroines Jayasudha and Jayachitrhra in one film each. Later he started a production company and produced a Telugu film directed by legendary director K.Balachander.
In the 1990’s he took a break from acting and joined National Film Development Corporation. In the early 2000’s he started acting again and was cast in character and comedy based roles in numerous Tamil films. His role in ‘Allithandha Vanam’, ‘Minnale’ and ‘Rendu’ were notable among his performance as a supporting actor In comedy and character roles. In all he has acted in more than 350 films.
Murali Mohan has also acted television serials and commercials. He acted in a TV ad for Horlicks, and hence he was referred to as ‘Horlicks’ uncle in ‘Minnale’ film by Vivekh, which became an instant hit with the audience.
The deceased actor is currently acting in TV serials such as ‘Vamsam’ and ‘Thendral’.
The reason for the actor’s suicide is yet to be ascertained.
