Irumbu Kuthirai Movie Preview

Cast:    Adharvaa, Priya Anand, Alisha Abdullah, Raai Laxmi, Johnny Tri Nguyen, Joshna, Jagan, Manobala, Devadarshini, Akshara Gowda
Direction:    Yuvaraj Bose
Production:    Kalpathi S Aghoram
Music:    G.V.Prakash Kumar

Look who’s the latest dude in Kollywood to sport a physique that could send the female fans in a frenzy? Yes son of yesteryear actor Murali : Atharva has toned his body with a six pack for this movie Irumbu Kuthirai and the promos of the movie already look like a killer in the making.

Wielding the megaphone is newcomer Yuvraj Bose and looks like a talented youngster already. Word is that Producer Kalapthi S Agohram has shelled out the budget more than it was predicted as the movie has shaped out quite well. Predominantly set in the heart of Bike racing IK will not compromise on stunts and action sequences on par with Hollywood. The film is based on real life incidents, inspired to make a full fledged flick and director Yuvraj has done his home work to research the daily life of bikers; their stunts, emotions, life etc.

Atharva Murali has taken a crash course in Bike racing in Italy to squeeze into the role. The thinktank of IK decided to use original bike stunts instead of computer graphics to make it more real and give life to the movie. Priya Anand plays the female lead in the movie after her lady luck charm and hard work seem to be paving off recently. Yet another addition in IK is Chennai based biker Alisha Abdullah, India’s first female bike racer who has competed in a number of National and International races. Johnny Tri Nguyen who featured in AR Murugadoss’s 7am Arivu is another interesting addition in the movie.

Yuvaraj is a big Fast and Furious fan and so the audience will surely have a dosage of FF in the movie. When asked about the story, Yuvaraj has taken a leaf out of the bike races that happen through the roads of ECR, Pondy and one such incident has transpired the director to pen a script out of it.

GV prakash has canned the music for this high octane flick and the numbers are already making decent records. BGM will be one of the primary highlights as we hear from the makers as the movie will feature action sequences and races never seen before. The movie is slated to release this weekend along with two other movies, so the race to the finish is this Friday!

Irumbu Kuthirai Music Review

Cast:    Adharvaa, Priya Anand, Alisha Abdullah, Raai Laxmi, Johnny Tri Nguyen, Joshna, Jagan, Manobala, Devadarshini, Akshara Gowda
Direction:    Yuvaraj Bose
Production:    Kalpathi S Aghoram
Music:    G.V.Prakash KumarAtharva seems to be slow but steady in finding the right scripts to put his efforts. The teaser of ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ is a classy one and G.V has experimented a bit to present something new from his bag. Lyricist Thamarai has shown her prowess once again and did a splendid job. The songs are out and here is our review.

Penne Penne – G.V. Prakash Kumar, Raja Bhavatharini

What a fantastic melody to start the album! G.V & Bhavatharani have come together for the first time and they take you to a dreamy land for 350 seconds. Lately, the composers are cutting down a min or two, and leave us wanting for more to melody tracks. But here, G.V has delivered a full fledged instant poison material which will make one to click the repeat button again and again. The Thamarai’s lyrics go way out of adjectives.. ‘Penne penne alaigiren.. anril aagi karaigiren’.. ‘Saalai orathil poonthendral roobathil nee vandhaal naandhaane pullanguzhal’. The same pair mesmerized us with ‘oru murai oru murai’ in the past and they nailed it once again. It seems, the word, Penne Penne is becoming a favourite one for, G.V, and one could easily recollect his beautiful number starts with the same word in, ‘Naan Sigappu Manithan’.

Ange Ippo Enna Seigiraai – Vijay Prakash, M.M. Manasi

From the world of melody, G.V takes us to the universe of Electronic beats. Once again, Thamarai did a fantastic job to pen down a likeable lyric to the new age beats. The song does carry the beep sounds of mobile, notification pop ups, and the composer tries to make something new from the sounds which we are used to hear everyday. Tune wise, the song is a good attempt, but the lyrics do not fit into the scheme of things.

Pondichery Vazhiyela – A.R. Reihana, Priya Himesh

The album ticks the much needed category, an item number. The song is an out and out, Reihana’s show, and only she knows why she’s not singing often. A wonderful foot tapping material consists of,  Guitars, Nadhaswaram, and Flute to bring that Friday evening mood. The pace of the album gets restored once again with this Kuthu genre.

Alaipaayum – Vijay Prakash, Andrea Jeremiah

It is so hard to see a singer crooning two songs in an album nowadays. With his spirited vocals, Vijay Prakash did everything he could do with this experimental electronic base tune. The first interlude deserves a special mention for its brilliant sound arrangements. Once again, it is, Thamarai who takes all your attention. Here’s another sample, ‘Puruvam irandum valaiyum idathil.. Pudhayal irundhalum poi illai.

Hello Brother – Ranjith, Suchitra, Priya Himesh

G.V gets a little playful here and came up with a dance/pub material composed with the famous chorus section in ‘Unnai Azhaithadhu’ from ‘Thai Veedu’. Bappi Lahiri’s innovative chorus section still sounds fresh even after 30 long years. Ranjith and Suchitra rocked their part to round off the album on a high.

Verdict – G.V. Prakash Kumar is on a roll and his recent releases carried some fabulous numbers. ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ is definitely something different from his usual offering and this could well be his hat-trick too.

Yuvraj Bose is optimistic about 'Irumbu Kuthirai'

Director of Irumbu Kuthrai -Yuvraj Bose who is looking forward to the release of his debut movie which promises lot of thrills speaks to us.Here are the excerpts from the interview:

What is ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ based on?
Irumbu Kuthirai is set in Pondicherry and it is based on a true incident. Tamil cinema has not had many movies with bikes as their prime focus. The base of the movie is a love story but it is set in a race backdrop.

Atharvaa has just garnered enormous critical acclaim for his work in ‘Paradesi’. How did you rope him in for ‘Irumbu kudhirai’?
I was looking for someone who can act and at the same time looks good. Atharvaa fitted the character of a boy-next-door to the T. His look and role in this movie is a complete contrast to Paradesi but he has acted in a very realistic way.

The movie has Priya Anand as well as Lakshmi Rai. Tell us about their roles:
As I said earlier, the base of ‘Irumbu kuthirai’ is a love story. Priya Anand plays Atharvaa’s love interest. This is the first movie in their combination. Because of that, the pairing looks really fresh. Lakshmi Rai’s character has an element of suspense and her role is important to the screenplay. She has also done a great job in the movie.

GV Prakash seems to have experimented with the songs. How was the experience in working with him?
The movie’s vital part is its re-recording. There are very few dialogues in the movie and the background score does the rest. He took a lot of time to do the background score of my movie and has indeed elevated the output. The movie also has 5 songs where each song is of a different genre.

You seemed to have shot a large portion of the movie in abroad.  Tell us about that experience:
We wanted to make use of the high-end bikes like Ducati and that’s the main reason we wanted to shot abroad. In India, it is difficult to obtain permission and also it is difficult to shoot in our roads. We shot a large portion in Italy where we got hold of a Ducati. The technicians have choreographed some thrilling stunts which has come out really well.

Johnny Tri Nguyen’s role is said to be the surprise package. How did he come into the cast?
Johnny Tri Nguyen is already a trained biker and he is the brand ambassador for Ducati’s in Vietnam. He suited perfectly for the ‘Innocent Boy vs Strong Villain’ theme of the movie. He is well trained in martial arts too and that helped while filming the stunts of the movie. The movie is set in Pondicherry where we can come across many foreigners and that’s how Tri Nguyen was chosen for the part.

What sort of message ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ gives out for young bikers?
If you notice professional bikers, they won’t ride a bike without helmets. They would always follow the speed limits and other road rules. They speed up only on race tracks and that too during the race alone. The movie gets unfolded on an incident which involves the repercussions of Signal Skipping. Irumbu Kuthirai doesn’t give out any bad education or bad inspiration for young bikers.

'Irumbu Kuthirai' was a thrilling experience: Atharvaa

Atharvaa Murali interacts with us on the eve of his new release ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’. Here are the excerpts:

On choosing ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’?
Like most boys, I am also interested in superbikes. When Yuvraj Bose narrated the story to me, I found it very impressive. This is a new attempt in our Tamil cinema. The audience will get entertainment worthy of their 120 rupees.

What kind of training you underwent for riding superbikes?
We went and shot those segments in Italy. I didn't start riding Ducati from Day 1. I took training from trained people over there. It took me five days to actually start driving it.

What was the main reason for going to Italy?
With the kind of roads we have and with the difficulty in obtaining permission, it is very difficult to shoot those race scenes here. That’s the main reason we went and shot in Italy

How was the experience of riding a Ducati?
It was a thrilling experience. Unlike normal bikes, Ducati has eight gears and like every youngster, I was also fascinated by the thought of driving a superbike.

Do you think Paradesi is the zenith of your acting prowess or you feel you still have more to explore?
(Laughs) I feel Paradesi just brought out one layer out of me. There are many layers like that inside me waiting to be explored.

How did the script of ‘Irumbukuthirai’ come to him?
After Paradesi, I was looking for something fresh and different. When Yuvraj narrated the script, it had to be visually enriched as well. I have to thank Kalpathi Agoram sir for agreeing to do this movie on a massive scale production.

The trailer of the movie has been well received. Your reactions?
What you see in the trailer is only 10 % of what is in the movie. The race scenes have come out on par with international standards. I am thankful that the trailer is well-received.

Why ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ is a Must Watch

Entertainment doles out week after week in a hundred-and-two bucks in the state. Some stay in our mind for the while we are watching it, some we carry as memories for the next few weeks, and some go on to become real trendsetters. And ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ is one among the league of the latter, beams Yuvaraj, on his first bigie that hits the screens today. The film is an action-thriller that also has elements of romance – it is all about bike racing; and hence, it is easy to pass off as an irresponsible feat of the nonchalant youth that whiz past us, throwing us off balance on the road. But Yuvaraj promises to bring to us a responsible movie with a definite message. So here is why you must watch it:

First of its kind: It’s a new initiative, a new effort from a person affected by speed, wanting to make a difference. The film revolves around bikes and speed, and has those two-wheeled monsters, some of which, we only dream to see someday. Although speed forms the arterial storyline for the flick, equal emphasis has been laid on safety too. The director says that the importance of wearing a helmet and the policy of not skipping a traffic signal are driven home on high priority.

Boys and babes: To all the girls out there, ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ is about racers all the way. Hot and sizzling men are all that you see on screen, sweating out and sporting their bikes. To top it all, Atharvaa comes around in his well built six-packs and so does Johnny Tri Nguyen of ’7aum Arivu’ fame. And to the men out there, the film has Priya Anand, Lakshmi Raai and its good share of other babes, too. And to every youth there, it is all about bikes and speed.

Family entertainer: But all the sweating hotness does not as much as touch upon vulgarity. Yuvaraj assures that ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ is a family entertainer, worth spending your time on, with your family, and has a definite message to carry home, besides just the memory of fun time. The film will go on to become a trendsetter and be remembered at least for a decade to come, says Yuvaraj.

Story: Mere speed does not make for wholesome entertainment, but for the thread that connects it. And Yuvaraj has come up with the right recipe of action packed thriller with a tint of romance woven in, to complete the picture with an emotional reach.

But these are not the only reasons why ‘Irumbu Kuthirai’ is a must watch, says Yuvaraj. To find out more, hit the screen!
