PREVENTION

1)Buy food carefully.Check the manufacturing as well as expiration date of canned food. Check them if they are packed and sealed properly.

2)Store food at an appropriate place. Refrigerate the cooked food especially at summer time. The food is not safe to preserve for long period of time.

3)Be careful while buying dairy products and eggs.

4)Always wash your hands properly before eating and after handling raw foods such as fish, poultry, shellfish, and meat.

5)Maintain the proper temperature for different food, cold food should be kept cold and hot food hot.

6)Avoid the situation of contamination.Prevent the spread of bacteria .Keep away food like meat, poultry, seafood and fish from other foods.

7)Cook food at proper temperature.Heat them for quite long period of time to kill the harmful viruses and bacteria. And to prevent the contamination that could cause food poisoning.

Another method to prevent food poisoning is Food irradiation.
In this method food is treated with radiant energy source like electron beam or gamma rays.
The whole process helps in killing the harmful bacteria and reduces the risk of food poisoning.
Though irradiated processing of foods are not practiced in some of the parts of the world.
Food irradiation do kills bacteria but it doesn’t sterilize the food.
Foods such as potatoes, wheat, red meat, dehydrated products and pork are often irradiated to reduce the risk of food poisoning.
