Vaanavarayan Vallavarayan Movie Review

Director: Rajamohan
Cast: Kreshna Sekhar, Makapa Anand, Monal Gajjar

Vaanavarayan Vallavarayan is a crass comedy, strictly meant for the B & C audiences. The basic storyline is etched out of 1980's rural comedies like Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi, Aan Papam and so many other films in the same genre.

The plot and treatment meted out by director Rajamohan is outdated. The first half in the name of comedy is loud and boorish, while in the second half melodrama rules. Two country bumpkins and brothers Vannavarayan (Kreshna) and Vallavarayan (Ma Ka Pa Anand) are extremely found of each other but they terrorize the village with their boorish activities.

One day Vannavarayan falls in love with the highly educated Anjali (Monal Gajjar), who does not respond to his overtures. The younger brother Vallavarayan gets angry and beats up Anjali's dad and creates a nasty scene. The rest of the film is how the deadly but comical brothers try to win back Anjali, creating more trouble.

The jokes in the film are tedious and women in the film are treated with scant respect and everything from puberty to breasts are discussed in a crude manner. And the climax is contrived for a happy ending.

There is nothing much to comment about the movie in technical terms. Kreshna after the successful Yaamirukke Bayamirukke must have chosen this script to get mass market. The only saving grace of the film is Santhanam who does a walk-in guest role.
