1. Primorsky Boulevard



Whilst in the city of Odessa, you must bypass the Primorsky Boulevard which serves as the heart of the city. It is a fantastic landmark to visit to learn about the complicated history of the city and the state, as well as experiencing the very intriguing culture here too. The Primorsky Boulevard, often spelt also as the Primorski Boulevard, is a street which roughly measured around five hundred metres in length and is the home of so many different historical and cultural architectural landmarks and wonders that it could in fact be classed as an outdoor street museum in itself. Construction on the street started back in the year 1821, as up until this time this spot was the home of the Hadzhiebej Fortress which stood here for many years. The Vorontsov Palace was one of the first cultural wonders to be built here on the street and can be found right at the end of the boulevard.

2. The City Park   



Most cities have their own, special city parks and the city of Odessa is no different. Odessa's largest park is the park of Shevchenko Park, which was previously known as Alexander Park. The Shevchenko Park was founded in the year 1875 when Emperor Alexander II took a visit to the city and founded the park during his stay here. Despite its name change, the park still holds an important monument to pay respect to the former Emperor Alexander II and this is the Alexander Column which can be found in the centre of the park, along with the Chernomoretz Stadium (a local top football club) and also the municipal observatory. The City Park of Odessa is in fact home to a number of statues and monuments, including the memorial monument of Taras Shevchenko who was a national Ukrainian poet and is also the namesake of the park too. This park is located the closest to the sea out of all of the parks in the city, one side of which borders the side of the city which is closest to the sea.

3. Duke De Richelieu Monument   



Duke De Richelieu is a monument which is situated on the city's famous historical and cultural street - Primorsky Boulevard and is a full length bronze statue which has been dedicated to Emmanuel du Plessis, the Duke de Richelieu who was a former governor of Odessa, after becoming a governor of the city on the year 1803 and was named "the Duke" amongst the city's residents. The statue is a solid contribution to the city and is a major icon and symbol of the development of the city. The Duke De Richelieu faces out on to the sea which runs along one side of the city.

4. The Archeological Museum   



The Archeological museum of Odessa is also known as the Odessa Archaeological Museum and is one of the oldest museums of its type in the whole of the Ukraine and other post-soviet countries. The museum was founded in the year 1825 and since the year 1997 the museum has served as both a museum and as a scientific research institution in which many specialists value very much. The Odessa Archaeological Museum is used as a scientific research institution in which it specialises in two major types of research, these are: the archaeology of the countries and region of the Northern Black Sea Coast and the archaeology of the Middle Ages.

5. Vorontsov Palace   



This nineteenth century palace in the city of Odessa is a stunning white palace with grand white pillars at the entrance of the palace. The Vorontsov Palace and colonnade is yet another of the beautiful, cultural and impressive landmarks and features of the famous Primorski Boulevard in the city. The construction of the palace was the result of the impressive work of the architecture Francesco Boffo who was a Sardinian-born architect and was responsible for the building of the palace, of which was built for the then Prince Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov. The palace buildings were built between the years of 1827 and 1830 and today the palace is a popular visitors attraction and has through the years been used for other purposes too.

6. Building Of Public Opera And Theater



Perhaps one of the most stunning buildings in the city, the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre is a stunning and very beautiful building which has a kind of golden colour appearance and is also one of the first opera houses to have been built in the Ukraine. Despite the fact that the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre holds over 1, 300 people and was opened in the year 1810. Unfortunately, the theatre suffered a devastating fire in the year 1873 which destroyed the theatre and as a result, it had to be re-constructed and was then later re-opened in 1887.

7. Potemkin Steps   



Fancy climbing or perhaps just viewing some stairs whilst you are in the charming and cultural city of Odessa? The Nickolayev Church is a church of which is situated in one of the most important parts of the city, as it is an administrative area. The church is very symbolic and acts as an impressive sight to see and a stunning landmark as well. The Nikolayev Church is also one of the few churches within Europe to be a follower of the Scientology religion as well.

Just like every other city in most parts of the world, the Ukrainian city of Odessa has a well known and very important city hall which serves many purposes and is very important to the city. The City Hall is situated in a main part of the city, on the junction of Pushkinskaya Street, Chaikovskogo and the Primorsky Boulevard. The building in which it is situated is very beautiful and is white in colour and has several large white pillars at the entrance of the building.
