Starting from ‘Chennai 600028′, till ‘Biriyani’ through even films like ‘Saroja’ and ‘Mankathaa’, Venkat Prabhu has been observed to have a very causal and lighthearted way of narrating even the most intense of stories. But now, he declared he wanted to try something different, and roped in Suriya to play the lead for his upcoming dream ‘Masss’. Initial talks about the movie suggested that it might be titled ‘Poochandi’, until official confirmation from the director himself. Work on ‘Masss’ started in July this year; but even now, only very little information is available on the movie, because Venkat Prabhu wants this to be a thriller that is filed with suspense. On that regard, we know that one look of the lead’s will sport long hair, while the second of his dual roles is a complete suspense. Masss’ has had the distinction of being the first Indian film to shoot in 3D from the first frame. It is jointly produced by Studio Green and Suriya’s venture, 2D Productions.

Nayanthara and Pranita play female leads. Poster of ‘Masss’ was released on Diwali, with Suriya’s face carrying an intense expression. The film has Venkat Prabhu’s standard crew of Yuvan Shankar Raja on music and Praveen on editing. As for Yuvan, he has revealed that his work on the film is very different from what he has done previously; in fact, there is a song in a movie that’s a tribute for Michael Jackson. The composer has reportedly used very different sounds for the film’s album. However, Venkat has replaced his standard cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan with RD Rajasekhar. Dialogues for the film are penned down by lyricist Madhan Karky.

Jayaram and Parthiepan play prominent roles in the thriller. Later, Vidhyullekha Raman, Premgi Amaran and Samuthirakani also confirmed their presence in the movie. Actors Karunas, Sriman and Daniel Annie Pope (of ‘Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara) confirmed their presence in tge movie as spirits. In all, ‘Masss’ is an experience new not only to Venkat Prabhu, but also to audience, on the grounds of being a supernatural thriller.

‘Masss’ in March

Makers of Suriya’s ‘Masss’ have apparently set March 2015 as deadline for the movie’s release. “The film may hit the screens on 27 March,” say sources. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘Masss’, which is being made in Tamil and Telugu, is produced by Studio Green and Suriya’s newly floated 2D Entertainment.

Nayanthara and Pranitha are the leading ladies, while Premgi Amaran plays a key role. Music is being composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Shooting is currently on near Chennai.

Will Suriya's 'Masss' first look be ready for Pongal

Suriya fans are continuously asking director Venkat Prabhu on social netwrk sites for updates regarding Masss and the director has responded to their request by saying that the next update of Masss will be out for Pongal.
 
As the first look poster of Masss is already out, one can expect a teaser or a motion poster from Masss team which might be released during Pongal festival.
 
Masss has Suriya, Nayanthara, Pranitha, Premgi Amaren, Karunas, Sreeman and many to its star cast. Produced by Studio Green, the film will have music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

It is going to be a ‘Masss’ Pongal

After a long time, the fans of Tamil Cinema might get to see 3 movies and some surprises from all the big stars for Pongal, 2015. The latest to join in the biggest celebration of Tamilnadu is, Suriya. Director Venkat Prabhu has posted the following on his official handle – Adutha update pongalukku #masss #suriya, which in-turn made people to speculate that the teaser of ‘Masss’ might be released along with the ‘I’ and ‘Yennai Arindhaal’.

Team ‘Masss’ had hit a roadblock in the last schedule as incessant rains hampered the proceedings of shooting and looking forward to race ahead the time to complete the movie by the end of February. Sources say that the movie will be released for Tamil New Year and an official confirmation regarding the release dates is expected to out for Pongal.

Suriya lauds Nayanthara's performance in 'Masss'

After Aadhavan, Suriya and Nayanthara are acting together in Venkat Prabhu’s Masss and it looks like Suriya is super impressed with Nayanthara’s performance in the film.

At the recent Nanbenda audio launch, Suriya said “You can see a completely different Nayanthara in Masss.  I’ve worked with her in past and she took a break in middle but now it is refreshing to see the new energetic Nayanthara in Masss”.

It is worth a mention that Nayanthara will also been as Karthi’s pair in Kashmora which is to be directed by Gokul of Idharku Thaane Aasaipattai Balakumara fame.

Team ‘Masss’s plan for the new year

Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Masss’ will travel to Pondichery and Bangkok for the final schedule. We had reported that the talkie portions of the movie have been already over and the team will be shooting the songs and fight sequences in this schedule.

The makers are targeting to complete the shooting formalities by the end of February and locked the Tamil New Year as the tentative dates for the releases.

Nayanthara will be romancing Suriya for the second time while Praneetha will be seen in a special character.

'Masss' unit shifts from Bulgaria to Pondy

Masss team has successfully completed the Bulgaria shoot and they are recently camped at Pondichery.

Sources say that Suriya, Venkat Prabhu, Pranitha, Riyaz Khan, Samuthirakani. Subbu Panju, Stunt choreographer Silva have reached Pondichery for the shoot.

Masss is touted to be a unique horror thriller which has Nayanthara playing the female lead and  Premgi Amaren, Karunas, Sriman and many others in supporting roles.

Produced by Studio Green, Masss will have music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and popular DOP RD Rajasekar is in charge cinematography.

Sources say that Masss is likely to be a April 14 release and the film’s teaser might release on Pongal day.

Suriya's 'Masss'-A May release?

Suriya's Masss shooting is currently happening in south Tamil Nadu and the film is likely to be wrapped up by the end of next month.

A source close to the unit says that Masss is an out and out comedy entertainer which horror elements in it. The film is said to be having a lot of VFX portions which will consume more time and hence sources say that the team is planning for a May release.

After Masss, Suriya will be kick starting 24 which is to be directed by Vikram K Kumar of Yavarum Nalam fame. Sources say that team 24 is busy with the pre-production of the film and they are planning to release it for Diwali.

Suriya shoots introductory song of 'Masss' in Tuticorin!

The unit of Masss is shooting the introductory song of Suriya in Tuticorin. Today, Nayanthara will be joining the team as she is doing a brief appearance in this song.

Venkat Prabhu who is upbeat about Masss is completing the film in record time and he has shot the Bulgaria portions of the film successfully. This song which is a mass number is choreographed by Shobi Master and lyrics are written by Madan Karky.

If sources are to be believed, Suriya is playing a dual role in Masss and the film is mixed with right proportions of horror, comedy and twist which is likely to be a sure shot at the box office.

Suriya's fight scene to be shot in Nellore

Suriya is busy shooting for Venkat Prabhu's Masss and the director has completed almost 80% of the film.

Now the latest we hear is that the team is canning a dare devil stunt sequence at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. It is said that the particular action scene will feature Suriya, Parthiepan, Samuthirakani and Riyaz Khan while Stunt Silva has choreographed the fight sequence.

Masss has ensemble of star cast including Nayanthara, Premgi Amaren, Karunas, Pranitha and many others. Sources say that the team is planning to arrange the audio launch of the film on April while the film is slated for May release.

Eros snaps Suriya's 'Masss', a summer 2015 release

Eros International in association with Studio Green has snapped the worldwide theatrical rights of Suriya's Masss.

Remember, Studio Green and Eros International have already tied up for Sivakarthikeyan's Rajini Murugan which clearly indicate that the powerful production houses will be coming together for many projects in the future.
 
Masss is produced by Suriya's own production 2D Entertainments and it is being directed by Venkat Prabhu. Sources say that the film is a supernatural thriller with enough comic and thrill moments to it. We also hear that the film has Suriya in two different looks which is sure to enthral his fans.

'Masss' is not in 3D:Venkat Prabhu

Eros International and Studio Green have snapped the worldwide theatrical rights of Suriyas Masss  and a press statement pertaining to the same has said that the film has been shot in 3D technology.

Now the film’s director Venkat Prabhu has denied using 3D technology for Masss. “Wow! Guys guys #masss is not on 3D!Already trying something new so don't wanna make our lives even more complicated than it is already “

Later a corrected press statement was sent to the media. Masss also has ensemble of star cast including Nayanthara, Pranitha, Premgi Amaren, Samuthirakani, Parthiepan, Karunas, Riaz Khan and many others.

The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by RD Rajasekar, sources say that Masss will be a big summer release.

Suriya's 'Masss' to release on May 1?

Eros and Studio Green have decided to release Suriya’s Masss on May 1 and reportedly postponed Rajini Murugan, as shooting for the film will be completed only by April 18.

Sources say that Venkat Prabhu has completed major portions of Masss.Touted to be a comic-horror thriller, Masss also has Nayanthara, Premgi Amaren, Samuthirakani, Pranitha, Riyaz Khan, Karunas and many others to its star cast.

Suriya plays a con in Venkat Prabhu's 'Masss'?

On Monday (March 2), the second poster of Suriya's Masss was released by director Venkat Prabhu where Suriya looked looked cool with colorful coolers and a fascinating hairdo.

Sources say that poster has symbolically revealed Suriya's character in the film. It is said that Suriya is playing a small time con in Masss and hence the rupee  symbol in his coolers and also an ear stud.

We also hear that Suriya is playing a dual role in Masss but official sources are yet to confirm it.

'Masss' is all set for May 1 release

Though director Venkat Prabhu was little apprehensive about May 1st  release of Masss in his micro-blogging page, the film's producer Gnanavel Raja has confirmed that the film will be definitely releasing on May 1.
 
Gnanavel Raja said that instructions have been given to the CG guys to complete the post production work on time and he is confident that the film will be releasing on May 1.
 
When asked our sources say that Masss team will wrap up the talkie portions within this month and they will be completing the pending song shoot in April.
