Murungakkai Chips Review

Star Cast : Shanthanu, Athulya, Baghyaraj, Oorvashi, Yogi Babu, Munishkanth
Director : Srijar

Director Srijar's Murungakkai Chips is an adult comedy that revolves around the nuptial night of a newly married couple and what their respective families want them to do on the night to save their family pride(!!!).

In the opening scene, we get to know that Arjun(Shanthanu) and Shanthi (Athulya) are happily married. The introduction voice-over is by Shakeela who says that Arjun, a multi-millionaire is going to lose his wealth if he is sexually tempted on the first night!!!

Arjun's grandad(Baghyaraj) says it's their family tradition to avoid having sex on the wedding day so that the boy can't be tempted by anything else in the world. If Arjun fails in the test, the 300 crores worth of property will go to an orphanage. Meanwhile, Shanthi's aunt (Oorvashi) tells her that the girls (in their family) who avoided having sex on the auspicious first night never had the chance to give birth so, it's a must for her to convince Arjun! With two different challenges, what the couple is going to do?

Srijar's idea is something adequate for an adult comedy but his execution is disappointing and he tries too hard to please the audiences with double meaning dialogues and B-grade scenes.

Shanthanu dances well, looks handsome and has the talent but it's high time that he picks the right scripts. Athulya is pretty but again the script selection is wrong. Not sure why Baghyaraj and Oorvashi agreed to this film? Yogi Babu and Munishkanth evoke a few laughs here and there.

Dharan's music is peppy and likable. The dance choreography is also too good and the cinematography is glossy in songs but mediocre in the talkie portions.

Overall, Murungakkai Chips is a wannabe adult comedy!
