Thalli Pogathey  Review

Star Cast : Atharvaa, Anupama, Amitash, Narain
Director : Kannan

Director Kannan’s Thalli Pogathey is a faithful remake of the Telugu film Ninnu Kori! The Telugu version itself is not a great film, it’s a quintessential movie catered for the typical Tollywood moviegoers but Kannan hasn’t changed much here in the remake!

Karthik (Atharva) is a Ph.D. student in Chennai as he falls in love with Pallavi (Anupama), who approaches him to teach Kuthu dance and slowly she develops a liking for him. Karthik also becomes the tenant and gets closer to Pallavi’s dad (Narain).

Karthik comes to know that Pallavi’s dad is not against love marriage but he prefers the bridegroom to be someone who settled in life! Understanding the situation, Karthik pursues his Ph.D. and concentrates in his career but in the meantime Pallavi gets married to Arun (Amitash). However, a few years later, Karthik comes in to the life of Arun and Pallavi!

While Karthik thinks that Pallavi is unhappy and forced into the marriage, she tells him that she is happy and even welcomes him to stay with her and Arun for ten days to understand it! Pallavi takes the extra risk so that Karthik would come out of alcohol addiction and concentrate on his career!

Ninnu Kori worked because of the innocence of the actors Nani and Nivetha Thomas but that factor is completely missing in Atharvaa and Anupama, they look a bit matured for the role. Amitash is good looking and his performance os adequate in a limited screen space! On the downside, as  it is the remake of 2017 film, things are outdated and formulaic.

Technically, Shanmugham Muthusamy’s visuals are glossy and Gopi Sundar’s music is just passable.

Overall, Thalli Pogathey is yet another watchable Telugu remake!
