Bhoomi Review

Star Cast : Jayam Ravi, Ronit Roy, Niddhi, Thambi Ramaiah
Director : Lakshman

Jayam Ravi's 25th film Bhoomi talks about the plight of the farmers.

Yes, almost all the leading heroes in Tamil want to support farmers through their films but in Bhoomi, the protagonist (Jayam Ravi as Bhoominathan) is not a revolutionist, he is a NASA scientist who leaves his lucrative job for the sake of farmers and their struggles due to opportunists politicians and greedy corporates.

The film's director Lakshman's research work on seeds and organic farming is admirable but the packaging is not effective and Bhoomi ends up as a predictable cat and mouse game between Ravi and Ronit Roy.

As usual, Jayam Ravi looks earnest, his dialogue delivery and body language are just perfect. However, sadly, he doesn't have a proper story and screenplay this time. Ronit Roy is okay but the rest of the actors like Saranya Ponvannan, Thambi Ramaiah, Niddhi Aggarwal, and Sathish are not offered interesting characters.

Dudley's cinematography gives a glossy and rich look to the film while Imman has given his best to enhance the emotions with his background score.

Overall, Bhoomi is yet another tried and tested formula that isn't a compelling drama or has anything new to offer.
