Top 10 Beaches in England You Should Visit

England has fantastic beaches and coastline, from secluded coves and bays, peninsulas and natural reserves to bustling seaside resorts with transitional piers packed with entertainment and amusements. Holiday makers and visitors want spotless coastlines and recently more than 55 English beaches have been presented with the prestigious Blue Flag award after passing new hard-hitting standards set by the European Union. This award is given for the cleanliness, safety and water quality of the sea and beach, and provides reassurance to visitors and holiday makers. A further 133 beaches up and down Englands coastline have been presented with seaside awards for recognition of cleanliness and safety for beach users.  The English coastline has a range of natural features that attracts tourists yearly, and interestingly if you live in the U.K you are likely to be no more than around 70 miles away from the nearest coast.


1. St. Bees, Cumbria   



St. Bees is a village in the Cumbria region and is located on the Irish Sea coast. It is a very popular charming holiday resort, with excellent coastal walks, and is an exceptional area to see one the biggest sea bird colonys in the northwest of England. The pebble beach with sand when the tide is out is large, clean and quiet. It is surrounded by stunning countryside, grand cliffs and on a sunny day offers great views across the sea. There is plenty of parking and amenities for refreshments from quaint tea rooms and coffee shops. Or take your own as there are grassy picnic areas with tables to unwind and enjoy. The beach is a lovely place to relax and enjoy with family and friends.

2. Seaburn Beach   



Seaburn is a lovely peaceful, seaside resort located in Sunderland in northeast England. The beach is a wide, sandy golden beach, and in the sunshine is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the stunning views encircling the coastal area, hire a deck chair and unwind. There is plenty to do and see with an abundance of activities available during the summer season to take part in such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, surfing and windsurfing. Plus ample facilities and amenities to keep tourists content including a hotel across from the beach, guest houses, cafes, restaurants and shops. 3. Newquay, Cornwall   



Newquay is a major seaside town and fishing port in Cornwall, and located on the Atlantic coast. 4. Torbay beaches, Devon

5. Thanet Beaches, Kent   



Thanet is located in the south east of England in the beautiful county of Kent. It is a splendid tourist area and has superb beaches that are clean and well maintained. The beach is mostly fine pebbles, but there is sand close to the waters edge. There are several beaches to be discovered in this lovely region and great to visit anytime of year. Out of season they are wonderful for walking and observing the sea birds. The summers have an amazing atmosphere and attract many visitors who can relax and have fun with the family. 6. Sefton Coast

7. Embleton Bay, Northumberland



Embleton Bay is on the North Sea located in Embleton in Northumberland and has a vast untouched beautiful golden sandy beach. The beach which is known as Embleton Bay is definitely the focal point of this area and is absolutely stunning. It is located on a sheltered bay with rock pools, and has outstanding clean bathing waters. It is a great spot for water sports and also a great place for birdwatchers and sea life admirers. The beach is great at low tide when it is at its widest and offers safe bathing. It is a serene area and relatively under populated so is a great area for those seeking peaceful breaks.

8. Scarborough, Yorkshire
 


Scarborough is a town in North Yorkshire and has a harbour onto Limestone cliffs and a rocky headland. It is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast. Scarborough is a bustling seaside resort and has numerous attractions to suit all ages. It is split into two bay North and South and both have excellent beaches. North beach is quieter but still has plenty of amenities and a good sandy beach for sunbathing and ample beach activities. South beach is a lovely soft sandy beach and also has the harbour with boats and trips available It is packed with attractions and entertainment for a great summer holiday.

9. Brighton Beach   



Brighton is a bustling town on the south coast of England and is a popular seaside resort and day trippers from London. It emerged as a health resort for it bathing in the 18th century. Today it a lively destination with a seafront packed with amusement arcades, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Brighton beach is mainly pebbles so good if you dont like sand. It is a clean beach with a beautiful seafront. The beach has an area for nude bathing. There is plenty of beach entertainment and is lively and fun in the summer. It is good for walking out of season along the seafront.

10. Wembury Beach, Devon   



Wembury is a village located on the beautiful south coast of Devon, and is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The area is very scenic and is popular with visitors. The gorgeous sandy beach is extremely pleasant and clean. There are rock pools to explore, and it is well known for surfing.
