Kalathil Sandhippom  Review

Star Cast : Jiiva, Arulnithi, Manjima, Priya Bhavani Shankar
Director : Rajasekar

Debutant director Rajasekar's Kalathil Sandhippom is an enjoyable rural family entertainer that revolves around the lives of two close friends.

Anand(Arulnithi) and Ashok (Jiiva) are happy-go-lucky friends who puts their families in trouble often. The treatment is light-hearted and the filmmaker has placed enough emotional moments glorifying the bromance between the two lead actors.

The film opens with a Kabbadi match establishing the characters of Anand and Ashok. While Arulnithi takes the offence route, Jiiva is quite good in the defense part of the game. In real-life too, Jiiva prefers to stay away from problems while Arulnithi is bold.

Families of both Anand and Ashok are in search of a proper bride. While Anand's mom wants his son to marry her niece Kavya (Manjima Mohan), a funny lie of Ashok leads to big trouble that the girl's parents find another alliance.

However, Kavya changes her mind because of Ashok and his exaggeration about Anand's love for her. On the marriage day, Kavya calls up Ashok and says that she is not interested in the marriage. While Anand and others think Ashok and Kavya are in love, the former calls up Anand to marry her.

However, Anand refuses to marry her as he is no longer interested. What happens next? Watch the film to know more...

It's good to see Jiiva takes the backseat and allows Arulnithi to be the action hero. Jiiva takes care of the comedy department and it works big time. Arulnithi looks sharp and his subtle performance elevates the action episodes.

Rajasekar is quite good in the one-liners that even the tried and tested scenes evoke laughter because of the comic essence. Manjima has better scenes and scope to perform than Priya Bhavani Shankar while the supporting actors like Radha Ravi, Ilavarasu, Aadukalam Naren, and Vela Ramamoorthy have done their parts well.

Robo Shankar and Bala Saravanan also rightly contribute for the constant humor. The bromance between Jiiva and Arulnithi is the major highlight of the film.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs are strictly functional but he shines in the background score.

To conclude, Kalathil Sandhippom is an entertaining drama that engages us mostly because of the bromance and bonding between Jiiva and Arulnithi.
