A1: Accused No.1 Review

Star Cast : Santhanam, Tara Alisha, Thangadurai, Rajendran, Sai Kumar
Director : Johnson

Comedy actor turned hero Santhanam's A1: Accused No.1 is a jolly fun entertainer which is enjoyable mainly due to the actor's mad combination with Palaya Joke Thangadurai and gang. Seasoned actors like MS Baskar and Sai Kumar also provide occasional rib-tickling moments in the film.

Divya (Tara Alisha) wants to marry a bold and fearless guy but the prime condition is that she wants some one from Brahmin community. On seeing Saravanan aka Saro (Santhanam), Divya falls in love but she rejects him after knowing that he belongs to another caste.

However, love blossoms when Saro saves Divya's dad after he collapses due to heart attack.Things go well until Divya's dad(Yatin Karyekar) rejects the proposal of Saro and his parents (MS Baskar, Meerakrishnan). Now Divya says her dad is the best in the whole world. She challenges Saro to spot at least one bad quality in her dad and if it happens, she is ready to sacrifice her family and marry him. But Saro's friends have other plans which turn his life upside down in one night....

The film is purely aimed to entertain the masses so yes, there are many logic issues but that's quite acceptable for a popcorn entertainer. Santhanam is undeniably the biggest strength of the film, his one liners and comic screen presence work big time once again. The choice of comic sidekicks he has chosen in the film also look refreshing.

The film has a dark comedy angle with the presence of Naan Kadavul Rajendran and Sai Kumar. We wish the director had explored that angle even more. While the crisp runtime is a big plus, the film would've been more enjoyable with additional comedy scenes.

Heroine Tara Alisha is just okay for the girl next door role while the rest of actors are good. Santhosh Narayanan's background score and the Chituukku song is enjoyable while the cinematography and production design are functional. Editor Leo John Paul has crisply packaged the film with a runtime of 1hr and 50 minutes.

Overall, A1: Accused No.1 is a jolly timepass entertainer. Book your tickets with friends and laugh out loud.
